articleAs part of a promo for their new Godfather game, EA sent out brass knuckles to those journalists who were to get advanced copies. Problem is, brass knuckles are illegal in Canada and several US states. Not only has EA thus broken the law several times over, they've inadvertently turned a number of journalists into criminals. I'd say this counts as a huge "oops."

Lulz.
I thought brass knuckles were legal if you included a screw that you could use to make it into a belt buckle.

I wanna be there in the board room when someone decided sending brass knuckles to people is a good idea.

I read about that yesterday and started laughing. Though I agree with AT - who thought this was a good idea?

If they wanted to do something gangster like they could have sent a fake fish wrapped in a press release about their game.

Heh.
They should include a small severed horse head in each game.

What's this? EA has done something fucking retarded? GASP. I never would have expected it from them.
What a bunch of idiots the EA leadership is.

EA have failure of judgement down to such a fine art that it's amazing they're still a (the?) market leader.

EA have failure of judgement down to such a fine art that it's amazing they're still a (the?) market leader. EA is a market leader because they've mastered the effort to sales ratio. It's not so much that they're brilliant, but that they know the exact minimum effort they can put in to get their games to sell. Plus, when you have the most money to throw at things, you don't need to think. Ever.

This is true, and in all fairness they have put out some damn good games.

Interesting side not here, has anyone played the Wii version of the Godfather II yet? I played the first one and loved it aside from the fact that those type of over the should games with rapid viewpoint changes give me horrible motion sickness if I play them too long. I want to know if the game play is worth it before I potentially make myself sick.

Thinking about it, I'm wondering if this was a mistake. It's in the news so that's a lot of free advertising. As they say, there's no such thing as bad publicity.
