I got bored last night and thought of this. If Jesus were to return in this day and age (and it's not the Rapture), what religion do you think he would be? Do you think he'd stay Jewish, follow Christianity, swear off religion altogether as an atheist, or be something else?
Just a hypthetical idea to have fun with...
Enjoy.

My initial impression was that he would probably be put on medication. I would say maybe he would be considered one of two things: either some form of Western Buddhism--I could see Unitarian--or some sort of new nondenominational Xian sect, sort of like YoungLife, where they sit around and have Xian parties, listen to god rock and try to upbuild each other. I don't think he'd be a Jew or a Muslim, as he was pretty busy breaking most Jewish customs at the time. I don't think he'd recognize Xianity today, as it's been strongly defined by Paul's interactions with it. Maybe he'd be a Scientologist--don't they pretty much believe in faith healing, too? I'd love it if after he dabbled with all the new forms of religions he decided they were full of crap and became atheist.

Supposing that Jesus actually existed and supposing that he returned but in a non-rapture way how could he be anything but "Christian"? Jesus is the definition of Christian therefore whatever beliefs he promulgated would in fact be/become Christian beliefs. Think about it for a minute...
Christian adj. Professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.
<edit: spelling>

Jesus was a Jew. He never claimed to be anything other than that. If he came back I would assume he would come back claiming the same things he did 2000 years ago, meaning he would simply be a Jew trying to forge a new convanent.

If he even existed, the Jesus in the bible was a Jew. His followers were Christians. Now, what political party he would be affiliated to, if any...that's a different discussion all together. Personally, I think the Jesus of the bible was a Liberal. My opinion, though.

I voted other, which means "Imaginary."
But otherwise, I doubt Jesus would really let Himself be tied down by denomination.

As the book I just finished reading so eloquently put it, Christianity is the religion about Jesus, not the religion of Jesus. The historical Jesus was a Jew. The religion he taught was Jewish. It wasn't the same version of Judaism that the Pharisees believed, but it was a version of Judaism that had existed for about a century prior to his birth.
So if Jesus came back, he'd probably be an apocalyptic Jew, just like he was before, unless of course he came to realize that the world didn't end and the Kingdom of God didn't arrive within the lifetime of his disciples, like he predicted it would in which case he would either deconvert to something a little saner (like mainstream Judaism), or modify his beliefs into something crazier and cult-ier, as so often happens when a religion predicts the apocalypse and it doesn't happen.
EDIT: I doubt he would become Christian, since he would know firsthand that he isn't God. He might even start a campaign to tell Christians they got it wrong.

I figured he would be either Jewish or Unitarian, though I voted Unitarian as I feel he'd be open to just about all other beliefs.
As for political party, I'd say Independent, since I can't picture him leaning one way or another.

I say he'd be in a mental institution. But that's just my two cents.

Hmmm... He wouldn't be an atheist, since he believed in God. He wouldn't be a vaginalist, either, since he had no known partner (Except in Dan Brown's Bible fanfiction). He was against gathering riches, so no Scientology. Unitarian sounds possible. I don't think Muslim, because they say he wasn't the Son of God. My bet is a new branch of Christianity/Judaism. No apostles this time, he learnt his mistake.

I think he'd be a spiritual, non-religious person, myself. Assuming he came as a different incarnation.
