I fail to see how posting a link to a evolution link is "mocking god or the forum members". A slight difference of opinion never mocks anybody. They asked you to clarify evolution and you posted some links to where they could read up about it.
Oh, and they made the thread private (not that I would have wanted to see it anyway).
What a controlling and boring forum.

They would ban you for a post you made on a different board? Wow. I guess there's crazy, and then there's Rapture Ready crazy. I got banned from a Christian forum for a post I made on Rants and Raves. Feel the love!

I tried to get my friend, a hardcore Christian, to post there. However, he said the board p!$$ed him off too much and he'd probably get banned with a single post, which would make him even madder.

I told my boyfriend (who is a Christian) about this whole fiasco, and he couldn't believe how poorly these people are representing him and his faith. We had a good laugh over these idiots.

I am Christian, and it is people like these that very nearly drove me out the church.
Hanging around this place hasn't done it, but some of the other Christians very nearly did.

I am Christian, and it is people like these that very nearly drove me out the church. Hanging around this place hasn't done it, but some of the other Christians very nearly did. I can sympathize because it's other christians that DID drive me out of my faith. In sophomore year of high school it became public (not willingly) that I had been suffering from depression all my life. This was a Christian high school so naturally all of my friends were understanding and helpful, along with their parents, right? Wrong. I was ostracized and told that my depression was due to me being a sinner. I had demons I had to purge. All of my now former friends' parents tried to get me expelled (luckily I had a good principle who saw through their bullshit. It also helped I was a straight A student and my ex-friends weren't even on the honor roll.). They also thought just being around me would give their daughters depression. I got new "friends" but they were just the same as the old ones. One even told me that if I didn't go to a christian college I'd become a slut and a drug addict. I couldn't understand how people could be so willfully ignorant and unchristian. But they were doing this in the NAME of christianity! I was angry for a long time. I don't think I'll ever forgive them since they ruined my high school years. However, now that I'm in an "evil secular college", I'm finally happy! (Also helps that I'm getting treatment for my depression )

I am not straight. I managed to remain in deep deep denial until the age of 19 (even though things were blindingly obvious before then, someone had told me a lot of girls growing up go through a "phase"). Then I hit reality and major depression ensued. Several months later the depression lifted, then it hit again.
It took some time to figure out who I was. I developed some better coping strategies, moved from a rather fundie church (at this stage my church was FAR more fundie than me) and finally came out to myself properly at the age of 21.
I joined a church which accepts everyone and in my opinion is just what a chuch should be. Where I don't have to keep my mouth shut about my doubts and about my rather unorthodox views on a number of topics, because I know I won't be judged to be a less worthy person or Christian because of them. Where people don't have to pretend that everything is hunky-dory happy-clappy sing-to-Jesus all the time, because life is sometimes shit. A church which actually gets off its backside, goes into the community and helps the homeless, the alcoholics, the destitute asylum seekers, the oppressed.
In short, they restored my faith in humanity and I'm pround to be a part of them.
