Yeah, early Spongebob circa the like episode 2 "I'll save you land squrrel!" were awesome. But... why weren't you allowed to watch FOP? 8-10 years ago it was like the best thing ever Fairies with magical powers = demons. My parents were crazy fundy when I was younger; there were even a few Jimmy Neutron episodes we weren't allowed to watch (like the one where Sheen's brain is enlarged and his mental abilities enhanced, giving him telekinetic powers, which are TTLY DEMONIK) and X-Men was out of the question. And PokeMon. And after a while, Lizzie McGuire (she was disobedient and irreverent toward her parents). And The Weekenders (because my eldest brother kept quoting Tino). Ohhhh, I had a feeling it was something like that. Or "HE WEARS A PINK HAT, TEH GEYZ" and if it was that I was going to point out the irony that even the SHOW pokes fun at that. Damn though....fundie parents ruin everything... classic FOP was the 2nd greatest part about Saturday morning, the 1st being new Digimon season 3 (and later new YuGiOh, you should tie your parents up and make them watch every single episode of that, even if it was bowdlerized they'd still have a fit ((note: Evil Me is rarely serious but likes ironic punishments)))

I can hardly stand to watch a (non-abridged) episode myself, though, due to 9/10 of the episode being "I PUT BLACK MAGICIAN IN DEFENSE MODE" "AHA YOU SET OFF MY TRAP CARD I SUMMON THE CELTIC GUARDIAN TO DRAAAAIN YOUR LIFE POINTS". The God Cards, though? That's a spit fit waiting to happen. At least they weren't the sort that insisted every show had to recognize God as the only way to defeat evil, though...or I'd never watch anything but "Little House on the Prairie" and "The Price Is Right" (watched more than enough of those anyway). They're fine with NCIS, the three CSIs, all of the Law & Orders...which always got me, because imaginary powers = EBIL, but watching representations of sadistic rapists is awwwwright. <.<

I'm guessing House was right out because of his positive portrayal of an agnostic drug-addict doctor, ne? Also... if it'll make you feel better, I'll send Slifer to eat them >>

Aw dammit, the Weekenders was an awesome show D: Why did quoting Tino get the show banned in your house?

Speaking of the Weekenders, I remember it popping off right around the time Digimon 03 came on and I couldn't help but notice that Tino and Takato sounded eerily identical... different voice actors but really shocking. But yeah, a harmless show... damn dude, no offense but your parents were like.... on Fundy Crack

I have now seen the first two episodes, the two-parter. Holy crap, why is this so good? MWAHAHAHA. It's all part of the plan...*taps hooves together* Itachi, they're still on Fundy Crack, it's just FC Lite. Once I (the oldest) grew up, they decided to let my brothers do what the fuck ever. I'm very bitter. In fact, now that I've watched all the MLP:FIM episodes available, I'm gonna look up The Weekenders and watch me some Tino and Carver and wtf ever the two chicks' names were (Lori? Tori? bah I remember their personalities whatever) EDIT: Now that I think about it...my mom might've caught on that Tino's mom is Pagan or something...

Metrosexual water dragon from episode two is win, by the way.
And of course, the unicorns are win for being basically a Race of Mages (and I know that isn't a trope, but it should be one), especially the main character. Hell, in one episode, instead of walking to keep up with Applejack, she just keeps teleporting in front of her XD

Metrosexual water dragon from episode two is win, by the way. There is a pleasantly startling amount of metrosexual-y characters in the series. I'm waiting for some fundies or something to cry "THINK OF THE CHILDRENS!!!" and demand 'manlier' males...oh, and less independent females, of course, but pff. Such is the power of Mark Harmon... I'm guessing House was right out because of his positive portrayal of an agnostic drug-addict doctor, ne? Also... if it'll make you feel better, I'll send Slifer to eat them >> Missed this post somehow. <.< Actually, my oldest brother was a huge fan for a while there, despite being the son who was prophesied to become a good fundie preacher (I'm not even kidding) but my parents didn't give a shit...also my mom is, along with me, attracted to Mark Harmon, which helped NCIS's reputation in the household but squicks me out. Plz send Slifer ASAP. XD

Yup, NCIS has Mark Harmon for your mom to drool over, and David McCallum for your grandma (or grandpa if he was an UNCLE fan)...
I'm reminded of when I stayed with my Baptist-preacher uncle a couple of times in my childhood. He once forbade his kids from buying or eating 3 Musketeers bars because its commercial depicted angels in heaven eating them. And when my uncle was getting his trailer moved, my cousin and I stayed with a friend of his, whose father was an even bigger fundie than my uncle - this old crank was a deacon in a "holy roller" church who homeschooled his kids (my cousins went to public school), and he had no TV in his house. My cousin, his friend and I wanted to see some movie on TV that night, so we got my uncle's TV and brought it to the friend's house. Before we could plug it in, the friend's father came in, yelling "Get that ONE EYED MONSTER outta here now!" We got the TV out, while the old guy screamed all the while about "that one eyed monster."

That's what the old coot called a TV set. (Not to be confused with the one eyed wonder worm...)
Anyway, this was in the mid '70s, in a south Georgia town of 300 people and a K-12 public school.
