Does the poll count if some of them *wish* there were elves, even if they know better? Because I think I'd be in that category.

Some of the possible justifications were hilarious "the fan blade chops up the oxygen particles until there are none left to breath" WTF?!?! Very basic chemistry, does thou know it?

I think the thing about elves is really cool, myself. But that's just because I'm a total fantasy nerd. Some part of me would like to believe they're real, I guess. Having an uncertainty in the universe makes it more interesting. Least in my world it does.

Looking at the poll results, there appears to be a clear lead for 22%, but not as clear as I expected. It seems strange that even we here on this website, where it's a major topic, can't really agree on precisely what constitutes 'belief'.
There was a lot more 'spread' than I was expecting, really. I'm not sure entirely what this means, but it's very interesting.
(Though I do wonder if everyone read the question properly - 5 people chose 90%, which means that 5 people on this site categorise people with no opinion as 'believers'?)

My reason for voting "90 %" : As the answers of the poll were hidden 'till you had voted, I somehow thought there would be nice catch and stopped reading original post at "The true figures are:" and voted before continuing to read. Polls can't be taken too seriously anyways And about definition of belief: If I believe that most people in Iceland believe in elves, how can I still say that I'm atheist (as " non-believer")? ;D

I believe that elves *may* exist but currently there is no evidence that says they do exist. Therefor, I must conclude that they don't exist given what current evidence says. Future evidence that indicates the opposite of my conclusion will result in my rethinking of and possible change of position concerning the subject. ;D
