Whatever happened to starting a discussion in the first post?
Sounds like a typical software patent to me: it's not about protecting hard work and innovation, it's about screwing over the competition. Apple's iPod and iPhone business is all built around the brand image, it doesn't matter to them if other phones can do the same thing.

I think this is the first topic I've made that didn't have my own contribution in the OP. I didn't really know what to say about it. I just hope this doesn't prevent anymore android phones from being made.

I doubt it'll hold up.

Fuck Apple, touchscreen technology has been in use for a lot longer than Apple has had the iPad or iPhone (or even the iPod) in development -- so how the hell can they patent something THEY DID NOT INVENT?

Why does this remind me of something I learned about the advent of Windows OS? Hmmm, can't imagine why it seems so familiar...
Fuck branding. Just...fuck it.

Bleh, just Apple being Apple.
Remember in the 90s, when everyone hated Bill Gates, and thought Steve Jobs was this super cool guy? And now Jobs is being a greedy asshole, while Gates is giving up huge chunks of his wealth to charity. Seriously, who would have thought it'd turn out this way?

Patents really aren't about who invented it first, or who did it first. Not in this country, anyway.

Jobs grew resentful.

Odd, because while Microsoft stayed about the same (affordable and functional, though not much more), Apple went from just all round shitty to functionally passable but grossly overpriced and associated with douche bag hipsters.

Seems like it's all on how you look at it. She was talking Gates v Jobs. And for the record, I NEVER thought Jobs was cool. Though Gates, I did think was an asshole like everyone else. And while he might rape puppies in his spare time for all I know, Gates has definitely got a public face that is far less dickish. Though I'm kinda loving the rise of the iProduct. These days, about half my income comes from me fixing products that "just work."

Kinda my point. It's not really even "odd," especially since Gates hasn't been CEO of Microsoft for a while now. It's just how you look at it.

And now Jobs is being a greedy asshole, while Gates is giving up huge chunks of his wealth to charity. Seriously, who would have thought it'd turn out this way? Let's just put it this way. There was a report on a charity that gives out free vaccines to the Third World. Gates alone, is donating over DOUBLE what America is. Source: www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-13753448

Steve Jobs, on the other hand, axed all ties with charitable causes upon resuming control of Apple. Excuse me one second while I continue to boycott the fucker.
