At what point does it become mental illness...?

At what point do you look at a quote and wonder if that person is somewhere hurting themselves or others? I know people have a tendancy to get more vehement and opinionated on line but when you read something like this you really have to wonder if it's religious fundamentalism or just plain old major mental disorder with religious overtones...

Homoseluality must remain illegal and people to continue to teach that it is wrong and is harmfull to those around. It is a spiritual problem. Every one know that atheists are liars of harmful intent that deny there are spirits and the spirits are what cause evil behavior. Why arent they they the ones that turn the population over to sex spirits some call it Thoth of Egypt that rape from below at the request of the victems enemy that is often a drug traffiker. Then there are those in general that have turned the population over to a variety of spirit problems sex violence . They hate the ten commandments and for whites to have their own which is from the tantrum ,sexual salvation, and babes religion, and the frog swallowing which all hates the Jews all along. Constantine was an emperor who hated for Christian beleivers to stray from Roman Imperialism and wared with saints of Christ as in Daniel and the Revelations to change the day {sabbath}to sunday. And so now after all these hundreds of years it is now what the bible says which is about the gay movement which has been forced on many individuals that dont want to have any thing to do with it. But the bible says in the end time men will give suck from their own breast to feed babies which is the sex change. It is all spiritual and if the spirits would go away and the evil ones would not cast spirits at their victems there would not be the urge to immoral sex, regretful voilecne and anxieties. Immorality must remain illegal and also drugs. It is all a united effort to rend everyone to their destruction as in the sixities when girls every where were talked into divorces and into promiseing to have an abortion for the liberal campaign. In order to destroy all of us.

Not only does this...person not have a spell check, not know how to use paragraph breaks to make something readable, no facts to speak of, and a rambling diatribe that leaves everyone wondering how he can even sit upright at a keyboard - he does it more than once....

I'm not a professional, mind you, but when a delusion or mental state gets to a point where it is disrupting your daily functioning, yeah. THEN it's a mental illness.

And yeah, this guy sounds like he needs some interesting medications.

Being terrible at communication does not to me suggest mental illness. The quote you give can be translated from WHARRGARBL to English without much difficulty:

Isn't Paranoia a mental illness - and I'll agree that bad communication is one thing but unfocused doesn't begin to describe the strange wanderings this person is venting out.

I've actually wondered that about a lot of the people whose posts making it on the viewing portion of this sight...at what point is your 'faith' and a distorted world view sooo skewed it makes a person delusional instead of 'faithful' and 'devoted'?

Defining "disrupting you daily function" can be tricky too...If I can get a job as a stock boy working nights and I talk to myself the whole time, have no friends, and wear a tin foil hat while I'm at home - but I brush my teeth everyday, and pay my bills on time - am I sane? If a sitting government official electronically sends pictures of his private parts to women he hardly knows, risking his job, his family, and everything he worked for- to satisfy a sexual fetish - is he any more mentally unstable then the guy who blames his multiple failed marriages on his patriotism?

I know this is an opinion question and that many atheists believe anyone who has faith in something they can't see is somewhat insane - but there is believing a pleasant fantasy to gain a social connection or equilibrium in a chaotic world - and then there is walking around believing everyone who is not like you, hates you and should be killed.

but are those people mentally unbalanced with a religious overtone or are they religious with some mental issues.

Did they start out with problems that religion just filled in the cracks for them or was it religion institutions that brainwashed them into being that way?

Probably a bit of both. People aren't born with mental illness (usually), only the tendency to mental illness. There's usually a trigger, usually a traumatic event, that pushes someone from neat freak to having full-blown OCD, for example. I think some people are born with a tendency to be paranoid, and having a religion that tells them it's not paranoia but godliness, is their trigger.

That seems to be a chicken or the egg type of problem. Schizophrenia + fundamentalism usually results in murders and suicide.
