I'm sorry. That was the first thing I thought of when I heard Rachel Maddow report that particular detail. Kansans can be so smug when they talk about Bushwhackers (pro-slavery bandits from Missouri) invading their state, and their progressive past, yet like Missouri, they are slipping into this Right-Wing lunacy. The Missouri legislature is run by nutjobs, but the difference is that we don't have Sam Brownback as governor.

I really wish we could get rid of this venomous spider of a governor. I'm originally from Kansas and living in OK right now. I'm from the Lawrence area (Eudora for anyone who actually knows Kansas). I remember switching party affiliation to Rethug so I could vote against my neighbor (David Miller) in the primaries. (Fred Phelps was also running in that election.) After living in OK for nearly seven years, I thought Kansas was marginally saner. <sigh> I don't see how this law can pass constitutional muster.

U.S. District Judge Carlos Murguia's injunction will remain in effect until a trial is held in a lawsuit challenging the Kansas rules. A new licensing law and state health department regulations had taken effect Friday, and abortion providers were given the latest version of those regulations less than two weeks ago....
In blocking the law, Murguia said evidence presented in court documents showed the providers would "suffer irreparable harm" through the loss of business and patients, and that at least two women currently seeking abortions would be harmed by not being able to go to the provider of their choice.

Looks like there are a few sane people left in KA after all.
