Not all speech is legal, or should be legal. Bribary is criminal, and should be. I think campaign finance (and, in fact, all commercial advertising) should be entirely banned on the same legal basis. Campaigns and advertising aren't necessarily evils that should be banned. It's simply spending of money to get a message out, The problem is that advertising works. Advertising is designed to make people buy product A over product B, even if product B is cheaper, better quality and produced by better-paid, unionised workers. This creates an arms race of advertising- the more advertising you can sell, the more profitable your industry. Small buisness, which cannot afford advertising, is disadvantaged. No longer does competition over price and quality therfore improve both because buisness is no longer competing over that. Either advertising does do this, as it is designed and should be banned, or it's a trillion-dollar scam and should be banned.
