Don't laugh too hard, Napoleon. After all, this year did see the release of Duke Nukem Forever. And we all know how that turned out.

Did I say it was a great game? Hell, no. I've not even played it yet. All I said was that, against all expectations to the contrary, DNF defied its reputation as the poster-child for vaporware, and finally went out to the public (hence, flying pigs).

So, if I'm right, the idea is to place all the responsibility for raising the debt limit on the President. Their thinking is to let Obama take the flak, so the Republicans can then turn around and use it as political ammo come the election.
Incredibly shortsighted of them, but it would mean that the debt ceiling could be raised.

I propose that every member of Congress be locked in together and they not be allowed to go home or otherwise leave until they have agreed upon a spending/debt ceiling bill. Maybe that will get their asses in gear.

Eeh, I just say that they don't get paid until they do. That should be incentive enough to get them off their asses and get to making shit work.

Nah, save that one for the "Okay, create x million full-time jobs. Don't care what they're doing. Dig holes and fill them type jobs for all I care. Until this has happened, no paycheck for any of you assholes."
These fuckers would have been canned in the private industry long ago. May as well make government more like private sector, that's what they're hard for.

You know...we pay the bastards, we should be able to kick them out if we so choose. Just put it up to a popular vote.

I propose that every member of Congress be locked in together and they not be allowed to go home or otherwise leave until they have agreed upon a spending/debt ceiling bill. A clean debt ceiling bill. Nothing else. No Social Security cutting, no medicare repeal. Just an increase in the ceiling. Then the recession can be ended. Only that, no medicare-cutting. Then the long-term debt problem can be solved (largely through health reform).
