It's times when Dan Savage pulls hilarious shit like this that I think to myself, "Why must you be such a biphobic, transphobic bastard, Dan? I think your stuff is fantastic, I really do, but you're such an asshole that I can't bring myself to like you."

I don't get how people can be pro-gay but anti-"anything but cis-gendered, one to one sexuality".

I love the "Its Gets Better" project... but I feel it is tainted because of this guy.

That's unfortunate. But it's even more unfortunate that it's actually common among gay men. I don't get how people can be pro-gay but anti-"anything but cis-gendered, one to one sexuality". You have to remember though that just because some on is gay doesn't mean they don't have other issues that cause them to do and say stupid things.

I know he's not alone in his opinions, it's just... he's supposed to be fighting for our rights. It's like... I know this isn't a perfect example, but imagine an African-American activist who's fighting against racism. But then he goes out and says that Obama and other mixed-race people aren't actually black, and insinuates that they're not good for the cause and are essentially traitors who aren't totally loyal to the racial equality cause. And then he uses some anti-Asian slurs. That kind of behavior is never good, but in someone who claims to be fighting for those rights... gaaaaaaah.

I know what you mean Smurfette. Since he's a leader in the gay rights movement, we are should to hold him to a higher standard.
But we should also try to change the attitude of the base too.

Posted already. With analogies! i think they're looking for information on the start of this thread. "LOOKITMEIMPOSTINGAVIDEOWITHNOCONTEXTOREXPERTASTOWHY" Is pretty dickish, as not everyone is in a position to watch the video, and would like some actual useful info. This is one of the reasons I've always had mixed feelings on Youtube and other video sites. On the one hand, awesome content. On the other, people who post nothing but a video and, if we're lucky, "discuss." In this case, we got commentary on his attire. Useful. Dunno what's in the video myself, as I'm yet to have a chance to watch it. I was reading through the thread for context, myself.

Basically, he reminds Rick Santorum that he already made his name synonymous with something gross on Google. Then he tells him that if Mr. Santorum continues to gay bash in order to get votes for his presidential campaign, he'll redefine "Rick" as well. Said definition is long and mostly bleeped out. Then a bunch of Ricks (and people with the sound "Rick" in their name) who are also celebrities beg Santorum to not let Savage redefine Rick, and give in to his request to not be homophobic.
