There is something about One Piece that makes it hard for me to get into. I think it might be the art style or something...I don't know, it just doesn't do it for me. I like similar shounen manga and anime like Naruto and Bleach, but just never became interested in OP. It could be because I've only seen the 4Kids dub, I guess.

The Funimation dub is much better. Go get the DVDs of that.

I couldn't get into One Piece because the idea of it is just so ridiculous. And it has nothing to do with the dub. The dub didn't make the Cursed Fruit, the rubber power, the man who used a sword in his mouth, etc.
And it's my understanding that he basically writes all of the stories for the lulz.

Well, its more along the lines that Eiichiro Oda is crazy. And he hates Pretty Cure because his daughter likes that more than One Piece.

Technically, the dub did make the Cursèd Fruit. They're Devil Fruit in the original. =3

The magic fruit idea is still dumb. But then again I watch the anime with the rapeblade. So take that with a grain of salt.

Also the fact that there are eleventy billion kazillion kablillion gazillion schmillion volumes/episodes. Nine episodes into Cowboy Bebop.

Oda said once that he chose to make Luffy a "rubber man" because he didn't like drawing fights so he wanted to make sure the fights would be funny. Three swords style is propably for the same reason. I actually like One piece, I bought some of the pocket books when they appeared in Finnish stores and got hooked quickly.

And that would be why I don't like One Piece. Yes, I realize that fight scenes generally don't add very much to the plot besides raw conflict, which is precisely why they should not be silly. Again, speaking in generalities.

Recently started watching Claymore with my bro to kill time. I have to say, it ain't half bad. Has sort of a Witcher/Dragon Age feel to it...with fewer dragons and more abominations (mostly of the non-Eldritch variety).

Finished Cowboy Bebop. Found it slightly overrated - it has its moments, but some episodes faded into the general episode structure of "find a fugitive > catch up with them > gun fight > they slip away/die/the bounty's off". So far as I can tell, they made about 27 woolongs and a bent spoon during the whole thing.
To be fair, the crew of the Serenity probably also spent a lot of time eating the grease off the hob, random goo in the fridge and their own faeces, but this seemed to be disguised a lot better - there's more an extreme between, say, "Ariel" and "Out of Gas" than between anything on Bebop.
The show was a bit same-y, is what I'm probably saying here.
Two episodes into Super Hyper Ultra Mega Dimensional Multi Fortress Macross with the Lasers and the Missiles and Glayvin, which promises to be better despite a) the terrible soundtrack (probably the best part of Bebop), and b) the weirdness of seeing anime characters with normal-sized eyes.

THANK YOU.
I get that "it's supposed to be like that for reasons x, y, & z," but that has never stopped anyone from not fully enjoying &/or complaining about anything ever.
I think the last episode of Durarara was on the other night. If it was, the ending kinda sucked & basically made my decision to start the manga for me.

Tried to watch Durarara on Adult Swim saturday night but it was subtitled. That's usually not a problem, but it's kinda hard to see subtitles on my 15 year old TV screen.
