One brain good, no brains better? No brains for the rank and file, no scruples for the leadership. Everybody wins.

I love how Republicans are still trying to claim to be the party that supports freedom & the American constitution. They do support freedom. The freedom to keep people not like them from being able to do the same stuff. The freedom of a clump of cells to be born into a life with few to no opportunities. The freedom to work all your life to make the rich richer and then be thrown away like a piece of crap. And be called "a parasite" for expecting anything back. The freedom to own a gun without the hassle of the responsibility that comes with owning a gun. I could go on.

Wow they aren't even trying to hide their dishonesty anymore.
The law, even if it only gives the illusion that there is a financial barrier to voting, should be ruled unconstitutional under the 14th and 24th Amendments which ban poll taxes for all elections.

From what I've heard they didn't even need to be hacked, the machines are just bad enough that they plain don't work right. Which kills me, simple enough, vote added, tab vote, clear machine.

What kills me is that we use paper ballots and pencils in Canada, and we can tell you who the prime minister is by the end of the day. Good look scamming that in a meaningful way.

But to be fair, there are only like 20 people living in Canada. :-P
Paper and pen should be used on all ballots in the United States. The American people (and namely the media) are so impatient: they want to know the election results right now! Paper and pen may require a few days to count all the votes, but so what? The elections are held in November. The Congress isn't sworn in until January 3 and the President on January 20. Very rarely is an election such an emergency that it requires results in 24 hours or less.

I suppose you're right but it depends on the ratio of poll workers hired to the population. Do we have 100 people for every 100,000 ballots? I don't know. And probably not when one machine is cheaper to use over the long run instead of hiring 100x as many people.
Have a little faith in the American judicial system. Even though the 24th Amendment bans poll taxes only for federal elections, the Supreme Court has ruled that the 14th Amendment's due process clause also bans poll taxes for all state and local elections (Harper v. Virginia Board of Elections). We'll have to see if a Wisconsinite decides to sue.

Have a little faith in the American judicial system. I do. Very little. America has given me that low faith threshold.

And probably not when one machine is cheaper to use over the long run instead of hiring 100x as many people. The problem isn't that we have different ratios, but that American counters would have to spend a lot of time falsifying ballots by hand, whereas machines can commit voter fraud far more efficiently. This frees up millions of man-hours which can be spent better toiling in the acid mines. The Republicans are truly the party of efficiency and industry!
