I was recently rereading HP Lovecraft and decided to run an RPG in that universe. However, rather than going out and buy the Call of Cthulhu RPG, I just used Twerps, which is a hyper-simple roleplaying system, along with the Mythic Gamemaster Emulator, which allows me to run games solo. The result was a very strange adventure that I thought I'd post here (copied from my post on the Yahoo group). Hope you enjoy, and if it sounds weird, even for Lovecraft, the dice and charts came up with the results; I just did my best to interpret them.
-------------------------------------------------
Eric Shroud, was a PI (online degree) who used his quick $ to get a sports car. Unfortunately, he wrecked it hitting a store window. No one was hurt, but Eric was sued and lost nearly everything. Figuring he had nothing to lose at that point, he jumped on a random bus that left town.
While it was stopped in a town called Drearly Creek, Eric saw an old guy getting mugged so he saved him. The old man, Nelson Jarlath, dean of the small University, offered Eric a job as a security guard at the U as thanks for saving him. Naturally, the job is for nights.
On his first night, Eric saw some thugs attacking two women, though when he got closer, he saw one woman was defending the other. Eric chased the thugs off, but when he questioned the women, one got stabbed by a cultist who appeared from the shadows. Eric ended up fighting the cultists and knocking them out, leaving them for the police.
Searching the cultists, he only found furry spiders. The surviving woman then stated that she and her friend had tried to join the cult, but changed their minds, resulting in the attack. They then decided to reveal all of this to Dr. Jarlath.
In a very weird 'horror' scene (according to Mythic), when Dr. Jarlath found out, he started yelling and screaming, tossing his desk and chairs, before having an emotional breakdown. Apparently this has happened before, and while he doesn't know anything about the cult, he has lost students before, and he is burnt out about it. He stepped down as dean for the moment (I rolled Horror NPC: Postpone Leadership: Dr. Jarlath: "No" to whether outside forcers were involved).
Ironically, Dr. Jarlath, who has the highest Sanity score out of himself, Erc, and Kelly (the surviving female) was the only one who failed his Sanity check. Also ironically, his name means, "Strong," and "In Control."

Kelly then revealed that the spiders' fur, when rubbed against human skin, acted as an aphrodesiac. Now before, you start thinking I'm sicker than I really am, here's how I got that result:
The Fate chart in Mythic consists of chances for a yes, no exceptional yes, and exceptional no, depending on the likelyhood of a result. Rolling on the random charts, however, produces a two word answer.
When Eric went to check the cultists, the Fate chart said they had something on them. I asked what and it said, "assist...healing." I then asked the following (Since I had no clue about the likelyhood, I used 50% for all rolls):
Is it medicine/pills? No Okay, is it a needle? No Medical Pack like in Left 4 Dead? No Patch? No Ointment? No Potion of Healing? No Medical book? No Occult book? No DVD? No What the heck! Aphrodesiac? Exceptional YES What the $%#@? Okay fine, it can't be any of the above. Is it alive? Yes.
I then rolled on the charts in the Creature Crafter and got Furry Spider. I'm not going any more in detail, both here and in the game since it's supposed to be a horror theme, so I just had Kelly say the spiders were used to lure people into the cult.

Okay, now things got really strange. Let.s see . . .
Dr. Jarlath had stepped down as dean with Dr. Maxwell (With most of the names except for Jarlath and Eric, I just went with whatever popped in my head) taking over the college in his place. Dr. Jarlath, Eric, and Kelly met at his home and discussed what had recently happened. Meanwhile, the cultists who were arrested in the previous adventure were released without explaination.
Kelly explained that the cult worshipped some mysterious being, but she didn't know what it was. She also mentioned that the cult was using the spiders to lure new members in. Kelly then volunteered to take Jarlath and Eric to the meeting site.
They ended up at the top of a hill where the cult had a bonfire going. The three watched in horror as members tossed screaching spiders onto the fire, and Kelly mentioned they also used them as sacrifices.
Eric then noticed a burnt body nearby, and a tearful Kelly recognized it as a friend of hers. Jarlath had not seen it before. Kelly called the cops, but they didn't believe her. Suddenly, Jarlath snatched the phone out of her hands, and several cultists attacked. Kelly was killed, but Eric and Jarlath barely escaped.
At the hospital, Eric called Jarlath on his actions, but Jarlath claimed innocence, stating that he knew the cops were working with the cult. He also told Eric not to tell the doctors what happened. Then, a TV report came up about an assault on the hill, with two unidentified burnt bodies found. Jarlath was less-than pleased, and now he wanted revenge.
Jarlath came up with a plan. Knowing that the cultists are communicating with the police, he suggested they return to the site with Kelly's phone. They would set it off, sneak around the site, then blind-side the cultists. Eric agreed, but before they could go, Eric got a call from Dr. Maxwell who wanted him to work that night. Eric though, told Jarlath that he'd show up at the school once they were donw, and they were off to return to the cult site.
At the site, Eric managed to sneak close to the site, but as he started to plant Kelly's phone, he was attacked by a cultist from the shadows. Jarlath, meanwhile, ran off. Eric fought the cultist but got smashed in the head with a rock and knocked out. Jarlath returned but got knocked out as well. As the cultist pulled out a knife to stab the two, a third person emerged from the shadows and shot the cultist. This person then dragged Eric and Jarlath away.

Eric and Dr. Jarlath woke up in the home of Dana Trough, a cop, former student, and friend of Jarlath (She's the one who informed him of the corrupt cops working with the cult). The cops then stopped by to question her, while Eric and Jarlath hid in the back room. Eric then got a call on his cell from Dr. Maxwell, summoning him to his office. Eric snuck out the back and returned to the campus.
Dr. Maxwell gave Eric one chance to keep his job, and Eric told him about everything that had happened, including mentioning the cult, the cops, and the deaths of Kelly and Tonya. To Eric's surprise, Maxwell believed him. But to Eric's complete shock, Maxwell revealed that he was the master of the 'Black Web' cult. He also told Eric that if Eric tried anything, he'd go to jail for assaulting an 'innocent.' Eric started to leave when Maxwell mentioned that Dr. Jarlath and Dana were already at the next BWC meeting as 'guests' for the next sacrifice. Eric attacked Maxwell, and the two brawled until Eric pulled out his gun and shot Maxwell in the chest. He then rushed to the site.
To Eric's relief, Dr. Jarlath and Dana were still alive, but next to be sacrificed. Since he still had Kelly's phone, Eric once again attempted his trick to lure the cult members away by having the phone dial the police. It worked, and as the cultists looked for the phone, Eric freed Jarlath and Dana before throwing oil on the cultists and setting them on fire. Dana then found her gun and they took out all the cultists. Hearing sirens, the three grabbed some nearby books and an amulet and escaped.
On the way back to Dana's house, the three discussed what had happened. Jarlath was stunned since he and Maxwell had gone to school together, but it made sense since Maxwell had a Doctorate in Biology. They then noticed that the amulet had Maxwell's image on it and rushed back to the campus instead.
Entering the office, they found Maxwell dead next to his desk, but with a hole punched through the window. Jarlath and Eric thought Maxwell might have been calling for help, and Dana agreed, except he wasn't calling for security.
They found a trail of blood from Maxwell's crimson fist, up the side of the desk, to a piece of parchment where Maxwell had written a message in his own blood. While most of the message was in symbols no one could identify, Dr. Jarlath (who mentioned that, back in school, they'd exchange notes written in multiple languages to throw off professors) was able to recognize one specific phrase;
"bring arms now"
(That's as far as I got thus far. I'm not sure where the adventure is going next.)

Prolog to next story: (CR back to 4). Eric was not arrested as it was revealed that the police were only working with the cult out of fear. Dana got the police to blame the cult for Maxwell's death, instead of implicating him, since it might make things messy for the college. Dr. Jarlath was also reinstated as dean while Eric resumed his job as security guard at the college. The college cancelled classed for a few days in honor of those who were killed. Then it wasback to business.
First night after the previous events, Eric was walking along the campus when he noticed a mist appear between two buildings. Then he could've sworn he saw glowing eyes staring at him from the mist before it disipated.
Eric called Dr. Jarlath, who had been returning from Kelly's funeral, and the two went to Jarlath's office. Inside, they found the message that Maxwell had scribbled on the paper in his own blood, but the part that read, "Bring arms now," was torn to shreds, even though the window was closed and covered by plastic.
Eric (Nervously): "What do you think it means?"
Dr. Jarlath (Trembling): "Wish...granted...."
(I didn't plan for anything to happen after the prolog, but I rolled a 4 for a Scene Interrupt, so I went with it. The Fate chart told me that whatever was watching Eric was neither walking nor winged, so I just went with something in the mist. Oh, and both Eric and Dr. Jarlath failed their Sanity checks.)
