Hi, guys. SpukiKitty, here. I have a question. I submitted a quote from a site. I did everything correctly & closely followed the directions. I didn't add my own comments, I put down the name of the person who said it, I put in the URL, I put the name of the site. It has yest to show up on FSTDTs. Is there an approval period? Does it take several days? It was a pretty fundy quote that really struck me & it would've been approveable. Has anyone else had this problem? What am I doing wrong?

As far as I'm aware (I haven't submitted many quotes, mind you, but I do remember talking with people in the IRC about the subject once), there is an approval period of about 7 days or so.
I could be wrong, of course.

It needs to go through Public Admin. People vote on the quotes in there, so it may get enough votes that it's deleted in there.

After a quote is submitted, it goes to the public admin section, where people like me vote on it. If it receives enough votes, it will go to its designated section after a certain period of time. However, how long this period of time is seems to vary. Quotes can show up one day to seven days after they're originally approved.

Thanks, guys! I feel better now. I hope it's accepted, it was a quote that really "threw" me in it's honest audacity, brazeness & NeoCon Political nefariousness.

Heh, I found a quote about demon possession once. It was taken from the back of a D&D pamphlet. Somehow it never got voted in.

I'll add in the couple details that hadn't made it yet, about 1 in 5 submissions make it in I'm currently doing clean up of anything older than 2 days in the system, so if it doesn't come up odds are it didn't make it.
That said, I have been having some lousy days lately, if you can tell me the fundie name I'll take another look at it.

It was about how the truth about demons is being covered up by mainstream science, and that if they were discovered, then EEEVIL secular humanist scientists would start researching uses for them. Then he contradicts himself by saying that's not what the demons want. EDIT: Ahh, here it is: www.entrewave.com/freebooks/docs/html/ggdd/ggdd.htmlPage 23. I submitted it before but I was a little surprised it didn't get through.

While that is totally fundie, it's not darndest. We've all seen similar quotes a million times before. That'd be why it didn't make it through.

If twenty percent of submissions make it in, just keep submitting good-looking quotes. Sooner or later you should get one.

95% of what I submit involves aliens in some way or another. I don't know why, but I find those kinds of posts to be incredibly entertaining, and it seems like I am not the only one, since about half of my submissions wind up on the mainpage (although admittedly usually in the Conspiracy Theorists section, but you can get one in fundies too if it's a batshit-crazy twofer that combines aliens and religion like "High Priestess" Maxine Dietrich).
TL;DR: Submit aliens. You can't go wrong with aliens.

Heh, I've submitted a couple of quotes which didn't get through (though my first submission did, funnily enough). One was a guy ranting about how women were "utterly useless" on the Escapist, which in retrospect was not a fundie (though definitely a darndest thing) and probably a troll. The other I submitted recently, and was an atheist named wp88 on the fstdt comments section.
If a quote doesn't make it through I just shrug my shoulders and don't mind. Eventually I find another quote and submit that too. Eventually one of them'll get through.
It's a shame, there's another (genuinely brilliant) forum I go on where one of the members once went mental and started unironically ranting about how we should "purge the lower classes". Sadly, the thread appears to have been deleted. I'm almost certain that would have made it on.
EDIT: Oops, didn't read the date properly... is this a necro?

Nopers, it counts as a necro if 30 days have passed since the last post.
