Turkey's had some of that too, specifically to prevent Islamic extremism from taking power.

What's the point of health insurance if you're paying $900 a MONTH?! Jesus fucking christ.
Pretty much the only thing I have going for me right now is I have no debt. :/ (And thus no credit. I'm sure the employers I'm applying with are just loving that on my background check. FML.)

That's complete crap. Add this to the growing list of police brutality. Though I suppose there is a silver lining; an incident like this may draw LGBT groups to OWS movements when they otherwise wouldn't necessarily have a stake in them. With the way the right treats 'em, they might as well be poor anyway. In related news, if this isn't at all surprising, I've found a good deal more information on the protests, much of it coming from national news networks. It's nice to see that this has gotten to the point that the MSM can't ignore it anymore. Also got an update on the NYTimes pic from a previous post. Turns out that the co-author in the 2nd article is in charge of the NY Times police Bureau. There's also this lovely video of some of the "1%" drinking champagne on their balconies as the protesters march on by and a lovely montage of reasons as to why OWS is happening in the first place.

Lordkat basically sums up that the protesters are doing nothing of their stated goals and are instead pissing off the folk they're defending.
Ironbite-stuff like that.

I just looked up America's income tax rates. I was pretty blown away. Compare America's highest tax bracket (35% for >$379150) with the highest tax bracket of a similar first world country, Australia (45% for >$180,001) I don't think that something like that would be too onerous for America's wealthy, do you? Heck, even 45% for those earning more than $379150 I could live with. www.moneychimp.com/features/tax_brackets.htmwww.ato.gov.au/individuals/co...tent/12333.htm
