From the occupy activists that I've spoken to, it seems as though they're in a sort of recess and re-planning stage. I can't wait until Occupy starts up again. It feels so good just knowing that people out there are as fed up with the current system as I am.

My hope is that they come back, only this time they ensure that they're not violating a single statute, so the government can't disperse their protests.

They'll make things up, no matter how closely the protesters follow the letter of the law. We've pretty much already seen that. One thing that's needed is for as many people as possible to record video that uploads as it's recording, so the footage can't be destroyed.

Release the lawyers! *rabid ACLU and SPLC lawyers swarm out*

It's adorable that you think that would work.

It's adorable that you think that would work. It's called optimism.

I hope this time they realize that handicapped people who also can't afford the trip to the big occupy movements can be just as helpful as those who are ablebodied. /bitter

My roommate and I have been discussing that very thing, Shane, regarding our local Occupy as well as the various other marches and protests that are being organized. I've not yet been to a protest, but she told me there was a lady at the Slutwalk who could only march with them for 10 minutes before needing to rest, and the march just went on without her.
It's also been a major reason why I've not attended anything like that. If I were to go to Occupy, I'd need portable electricity for my C-PAP (I can't sleep without it, I've tried and I just end up suffocating) and if I were to attend a march I'd need some form of back-up transportation. And considering that we have the third largest Deaf population in the state and the Industry for the Blind, yet have NOTHING to assist them with protests...
Damned ableism.

An organizer from UCLA and I were discussing how Occupy Denver have failed to address the marginalization and endangered of women and other minorities within their movements. Right now, they are losing support of those who would otherwise be with them. Occupy needs to get its privilege problems in check.

It's something special when you claim to be representing the 99% but you snub those who can't physically be there thanks to the things you're fighting against.

I don't know if this has already been covered, but there was an Occupy Seattle here. It was a big deal for a while. The protestors went to the park, which is public property, and camped there for nonviolent protests. The Seattle police (who have a history of being dickheads by the way) show up and tell them to GTFO or else they'll be arrested. Almost everyone GTFOs, except for six people who are arrested. Then there was a march and one woman apparently swung a stick too close to a police officer. In response, they pepper spray the entire crowd, hurting an 84-year-old woman, a priest, and a pregnant teen.
