It's a tiny, baby step forward at least. Still quite a way to go to say the least, but at least he wasn't immediately executed for it.

Fuck their culture. Seriously just fuck them. They're just as bad, if not worse, than the Christian nutcases we have here in America.

Fuck Afghanistan. What we did to them in the war was MUCH too kind. I want to see that place be a radioactive wasteland... I kid, I kid!
But the EU condoned this? REALLY?! FUCK YOU, EUROPE! Get off your moral high horse right now, as by this action, you have PROVEN that you are not nearly as enlightened as you think that you are.

Or possibly they view this as a form of progress in that she is no longer imprisoned and view the imprisonment of rape victims as a greater evil than forcing them to marry their rapists. I can't say I agree with the view (I'm not sure which is worse off hand), but it really helps if you understand the logic.

Don't we harrass creationists for doing exactly that? I happen to be of the opinion that it's better to be dead than oppressed, but that's just me. Even so, I don't support the use of nuclear weapons, but I cannot think of a punishment severe enough for the backwards and misogynistic actions of the government of Afghanistan. No. Let's not even go there. Don't even THINK about saying that. I am positive that if the US used that exact same justification, you would be condeming us for it and implying that our fundies were celebrating in the streets that a woman has to marry her rapist. You wanna play this game? I think it's more than a little hypocritical that Europe claims not to be sexist or racist, but then refuses to put its money where its mouth is. You don't see any Americans condoning this action. If, instead of women being oppressed, it were Jews, then there would be massive outrage and comparisons to the Nazis, but since it's "only women" who are being oppressed in the Middle East, the pussies of Europe let it slide because it's "part of their culture". I think I may have thrown up a little in my mouth.

Even so, I don't support the use of nuclear weapons, but I cannot think of a punishment severe enough for the backwards and misogynistic actions of the government of Afghanistan. I said nothing about your belief, just that I didn't believe what you said. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harm_reductionYou are still misunderstanding the argument. I suspect it is due to your nationalism, but I could be wrong about why. And it might not follow that this actually is a reduction in harm and may be more damaging or a lateral move, but again, it helps to actually understand the argument. Also, it's not hypocritical to support a move that approaches equality, even if it is still most definitely not egalitarian. As I said before, it depends on if this actually is less bad than imprisoning rape victims. It's unreasonable to assume a culture will jump from imprisoning women who have been raped because it means they had extramarital sex to promoting full participation of women. If that is what you expect to happen, you're nothing more than a fanatic and a dipshit.
