brendanjd, I'm not disputing that it is a stupid rule. But really what did they expect? Let this be a lesson to them, if you send your kid to school with nuts you are going to get nutty rules. There is really nothing to do now but suck it up and send their kid to a public school next year.
Not that they are much better, they have their own problems. But at least your won't be banned from going to another schools prom.

Yeah, Findlay High School? My dad teaches there.
Both it and Heritage are very close--easily walking distance-- to my house.

The boy signed a letter or cooperation at the beginning of the school year. He was aware of the rules, however stupid they may be. Yes he did, I will not debate that. But I do not think that the school's rules should apply outside to school.

As a 17 year old isn't he legally too young to sign a contract saying he will or won't do anything.

I never EVER use that word. However, I agree with xaria.
From me, that says a lot.

That's flipping insane. I live in the Bible Belt, and I've never seen anything quite that extreme.Good for him.

Hello Footloose in real life! My friend's dad (they're /christian/, but just that, believed jesus died for everyone, nothing more really) said that's like the "American Taliban" or something.

My public school makes us sign a sheet every year saying we agree to school policies such as the dress code, etc. It's just an honor thing so our parents don't have to sign it. But we also have to get technology agreements saying we won't abuse the computers and that we're libel for any damage. Our parents do have to sign that one.
