Excuse me, I'll be in the angry dimension.

Does this mean that a band doing cover-songs can be busted at a nightclub?

They already can. Technically, every talent show in every school is violating copyright. SOPA means that linking to a website that happens to have a band doing cover songs would get wiped.

Well, guess we're gonna have to arrest ALL THE SOPA-SUPPORTING CORPORATIONS, seeing as how they induced infringement of their own copyright, and are therefore liable.

I'm pretty sure that since the owners of the copyrighted material are the ones who encouraged the practice of downloading it without payment, the only logical end is to declare anything they've ever owned a copyright on part of the public domain.

No, the answer is the immediate dissolution of the MPAA and RIAA.
With acid.

Are you suggesting we feed them LSD until they're in a permanent acid trip?

The best part is that the members of Congress you write will never, ever read your letter and even if they did they won't change their vote. Doing the bidding of their corporate masters is far more profitable than doing what the people they're supposed to represent want them to do.

Domain name registrar GoDaddy.com takes the wrong side of the issue. Hilarity insues. Update: Oh, no, wait! We were just kidding, says Godaddy.com. Gee, that didn't take long. One whole day for them to realize that pissing off their source of income isn't a good idea.. I hope they still get boycotted though, since this company is only backtracking to protect it's profit margin. They have already proven that they don't give a shit about freedom on the internet, as long as they continue to make money, by supporting SOPA in the first place.

They have already proven that they don't give a shit about freedom on the internet, as long as they continue to make money, by supporting SOPA in the first place. Not...exactly. Their CEO clarified their position by reiterating that they still agreed with and supported the bill as it stands, but had decided to withdraw their public statement stating such. In other words, they still want and support SOPA, they simply don't want anyone, especially their customers, to actually KNOW they do. www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/npair/godaddy_has_not_withdrawn_its_official/Fortunately, thanks to the Citizens United decision, this is now trivially easy, and it's only going to get easier as the Second Guilded Age builds up steam.
