I have made an unusual discovery by going to church with my parents this Sunday.
The closing hymn was "Holy God, We Praise Thy Name." I listened to the familiar words, and it hit me:
God is an all-to-all relation. Infinite his vast domain, and everlasting is his range. It's right there in the hymn.
(You can all hit me now.)

Close, L, but think again. You need to introduce complex numbers, because you're dealing with an imaginary figure here.

My own personal opinion is that the dialogue is a bit unfair here.

Close, L, but think again. You need to introduce complex numbers, because you're dealing with an imaginary figure here. This is true, but I didn't want my explanation to be too complex. Not to mention that I've actually had this joke in mind for years--since well before I seriously questioned my former faith--and was only reminded of it a few days ago. (To those who don't get the horrible pun, here are the lyrics, complete with MIDI loop of the hymn itself in the background for some reason.)
