Wanna know another way to make transparent aluminum? It's called aluminum oxide. It's what helps aluminum resist corrosion in the open atmosphere. It forms relatively quickly and protects the underlying aluminum from further oxidation. Though if you want to corrode aluminum post-haste with an otherwise non-corrosive substance, look to mercury. Holy hell.
