if the RR people were correct, and the once-saved-always-saved people were correct (I don't know if RR has an official stance on losing salvation), and the Rapture happened, and those of us who used to be born-again fundies (even as children) were Raptured. I mean fuuuuuuuuuuuuck! I would be so pissed.
You know, assuming I maintained free will and all that shit when zipped off to my mansion with a chalcedony foundation, or to be fighting Satan (why again would that be necessary?) on the plains of Armageddon, or whatever other of all the self-contradictory things that happen in Revelation. So pissed!

Of course, they figure if you're not behaving like a Real True Christian, you must never have been saved to begin with... If you take it to it's logical conclusion, all of us who have said "The Sinner's Prayer" are still saved, so long as we don't blaspheme the Holy Spirit (whatever that means). Marc

Sometimes I think that I should just say the sinner's prayer, simply to get it overwith.

if raptards are right, that means their view of god is, and quite frankly, i'm not sure I could hang around an egotistical douche that likes to fuck with people because he can and hates everything that doesn't kiss his ass

It doesn't count if you said the Sinner's Prayer when you were 5, right? Right?

You've forgotten the no-true-Scotman thing that the once-saved-always-saved fundies do: they say that if you think you're an ex-Christian, then in fact you were never really a Christian in the first place.

Kind of sucks for them, really. Clearly, people can't really tell for sure if they're saved, so how many of them would be finding out the hard way that they weren't saved themselves? I'm thinking a lot.

You've forgotten the no-true-Scotman thing that the once-saved-always-saved fundies do: they say that if you think you're an ex-Christian, then in fact you were never really a Christian in the first place. I really want to ask a fundie about this. I was COMPLETELY AND MORALLY CERTAIN that I was a Christian, that Jesus was my best friend whom I could talk to and had a close personal relationship with, that I was going to heaven, that I needed to convert people so they wouldn't go to hell, etc. etc. I had ecstatic religious experiences, believed I felt the presence of God, etc. So... if it's possible that I wasn't really saved according to them, then there is absolutely no way for them to be certain of their own salvation. They cannot claim that anyone can be assured of their salvation, if those who are assured later stray and are declared to have not really been saved in the first place. At that point Calvinism makes a lot more sense. lawlz. And yeah, if you said it when you were 5 and REALLY MEANT IT, it's too late for you. Ha-ha! I know my mother believes in once-saved always-saved. I forget exactly what her stance is on blasphemy against the holy spirit, but I think it's that you must truly believe and still reject it, or something. Which I like to think I would do if I did believe, because I wouldn't want to go to the heaven of anyone that allows hell.

You thought he wasn't real, find out he is, and because you used to believe, you're stuck with him.

My Inner Fundie says you're lying, lonelocust. My inner fundie thinks that your inner fundie is not a True Christian, or it wouldn't say such things. MAYBE!

Oh, wait, you're talking about the biblical god. Nevermind.
