I guess I'll never understand the fundie fascination with firearms. It's one thing to own a single gun for home defense. It's quite another to stockpile an arsenal because you're preparing for "the coming revolution". My neighbor down the street is like that. He came staggering down the road one day and we were all sitting on the front porch. This fool was three sheets to the wind and he yelled out, "Hey! I'm packin'! You packin'?" and he proceeded to clumsily whip a .22 pistol out of his pants pocket and twirled it around his finger. He started laughing hysterically and said, "ahhhh this makes me feel like a cowboy."
Then he started talking about how he has sealed 27 different guns between the walls of his house because he's scared Obama will send people out to take his guns, but that he needs them for the "Mexican uprising in America". He is thoroughly convinced the Mexicans are going to swarm our tiny little town and start raping and pillaging.
I think, after reading the thread over at RR, this post frightened me the most:
Why would anyone need that many guns? And why is it that breaking the law is terrible unless you're refusing to register your weapons? For whatever reason, such lawless and careless actions are deemed godly and heroic in fundie circles. I remember one time I went to a gun show with my husband and brother. I mainly went because my brother is a big time WWII buff and heard a man has a booth at the gun show and sells various relics and replicas. He wanted to buy, maybe, a WWII combat knife but would need an adult to vouch for him as he was a minor at the time. That and I figured it was only fair since I had dragged my poor husband to about a dozen different yarn shops since we met.
The atmosphere was chilling, to say the least. Lots of talk about how to bypass the system and not register a firearm and how to get around being caught with a firearm on your person even without a carry conceal permit because applying for such licensing and registration meant "the liberals would take your guns". To me it's sort of like the people who try and act all moral and Christlike when they refuse to pay their taxes because they don't want their money "going to fund abortions".

Me too JesusIsLord, luckily I live in a state that supports our 2nd Amendment to the fullest, everyone in my family here has a CWL along with 2 safes full of guns, we will not register a single One
