That's right, tomorrow I'm taking the pain in my ass known as the SAT test. For those of you who don't know, it's basically college/university entrance examinations. I've been preparing for them for a really long time and have taken a whole lot of practice tests, but even so, I'm still freaking out. A little while ago, I had to call customer service because I was missing important information on my test ticket, and I had to wait for thirty minutes on the phone only to get a moronic valley-girl who apparently "could not hear me" and hung up on me. I had to call back and wait an hour to get someone who was willing to help me.
The bottom line is, the SAT sucks. A lot.

That it does, but a good night's sleep and remaining as calm as possible goes a long way. Unless the SAT has changed even more radically than I think it has in the last 6 years, focus and logic trumps freaking out over it.

I'm going to bed early tonight, probably in about twenty minutes or so. I'm trying not to panic, but at least I feel like I've done everything I can. Cram school for five months, SAT Study Guide, and extra practice is about all I can do. Still, I'll be glad when this whole thing is over.

If it helps, my ass, which couldn't find a job for 8 months after graduation, was awake for 24 hours prior at a lan party both times(killer timing neh?) I took the SATs, I still cleared a 1300(back when the max was 1800). Had I considered my future I may have, well, studied or slept, or generally not gotten so hyped up on caffiene I could have probably counted the packets as the crossed the network cables. I'm sure you'll do fine, just relax and take it as easy as you can manage.

Thanks! I appreciate it. I should probably go to sleep or I'll never get up in the morning... Thanks again.

You'll probably see this after the fact, but good luck.
Wait, you mean you actually studied? I took the ACT (my college only requires one of the two) and I never studied for it. I'm not really sure how studying would have helped to be honest. Just get enough sleep, eat something for breakfast, and try to relax as much as possible.

I wish you luck on your SAT. Thankfully I haven't had to take one of those... yet.

Wait, you mean you actually studied? I took the ACT (my college only requires one of the two) and I never studied for it. I took both, and took an SAT tutor thingy. I think it did help, but it can't really be known without extensive studies done on the individual tutor. And yes, good luck! Though you'll see this upon your return from taking it, probably. So, er, how did it go =P?

Good luck!
Hopefully you won't have to take them too many times. I took the SAT three times. In the end it was worth it because the third time I scored two hundred points higher than the first two times. But it still sucked.
I'm sure you'll do fine. Good luck

Good luck or hopefully you did well, depending on when you check this thread again. If you see it before the test what helps best is to relax. It's really not as hard as it seems. On the math sections your best bet is to avoid choice A unless you're ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN it's the correct answer. If choice A is obvious, especially on later problems, it's usually a trap. On the verbal sections, just take a mental step back and... well, get the right answers. The grammar/sentence improvement questions are pretty easy if you pay attention to punctuation and shit and if you have even a little bit of knowledge of Latin and Greek roots the vocabulary questions should be absolute cakewalk (although I was in the 98th percentile on the verbal section of mine and 91st for the essay so it could very well be different for you if words aren't your forte). As for sleep beforehand, if I remember correctly I stayed up abnormally late both times I took it and compensated with caffeine. I didn't do any studying the night before; both nights were just regular nights that went a little later than most. I think my final scores were 1300 and 1350, respectively.

Ahh, SATs. I took it twice, and the ACT once. If you've studied and prepared, you'll do fine. First time I took it I scored an 1860/2400, had I taken the test without the writing section I would've scored a 1290/1600. Took the ACT, scored a 28, which was apparently in the 93rd percentile. Then re-took the SAT because my mother demanded I do it - didn't care one iota, scored a 1650/2400 I think.
So go in thinking positive, having actually studied, and you'll do fine. Also remember there's no penalty for leaving an answer blank, but there is for giving the wrong answer. So don't worry about leaving an answer blank if you're not sure.

Thank you all for your good wishes! IT'S FINALLY OVER! Hopefully I will do well this time and I won't have to take it again...
All I can really say is that time seemed like it stood still.

I took that annoying test today too. I know I fucked up the writing section. It was one of those stupid prompts that no one gives a shit about so I didn't care enough to write a decent essay about it. Oh well. If I do well on the grammar section it will hopefully cancel out my essay.

Well obviously I know nothing about your fiendish American way of doing things, but I know that exams are awful, so best of luck with them anyway, I'm sure you'll do great.

I think the British equivalent would be the GSCE tests? I think?
