The idea for this thread has come up in my mind a few times, and it surprises me a little that no one has made it before (or at least that I can find.)
So yeah, back to the topic. How did you end up a FSTDT board denizen?
My story is that a few years ago (of what seems like a lifetime ago) I was a regular on gamefaqs' Current Events (CE) message board. One night someone linked to the Top 100 page. I thought it was complete hilarity and became instantly addicted to the random quotes. I was about 13 years old at the time I believe and still a Christian. After a long period of lurking the mainpage I noticed the public admin section. It said I needed 30 posts on the forum, so I decided to sign up there (and for some reason procrastinated on that for quite some time.)
I sorta lurked the boards for awhile and posted whenever I had something to contribute. Took me forever to get those 30 posts, but by that time I became more interested in the board. I became more active, but still not posting a ton. One lonely evening I decided to set-up an IRC client. I joined our room (it was Ausnet back then) and have been a permanent fixture since then.
After the original site and boards shut down and Jesus Distind rose from the embers I became much more active in the boards and to this day have not made a single interesting contribution. Sorry, a bit long winded, but the site's important to me, I've made several very good chums because of it along with the countless other pleasant acquaintances.

Long version: 3 years ago, I was doing this thing about creation vs. evolution for school and was looking for usual creationist arguments. I found one of the quotes and bookmarked the site for later. I started checking the mainpage regularly at that time. Then there was a bit of a dry spell in the quotes so I figured I'd join the forum. Eventually, I grew tired of reading the same retarded arguments on the mainpage every day, so I quit that, but the forums were pretty cool, so I stayed.
Short version: Google.

One day my dad told me to go to this site called "fstdt.com" for a good (scary) laugh. The first time I read through the quotes, I nearly had a stroke. At the time, I didn't know that people with such ridiculous beliefs existed. I knew about religion, but not the nutjobs. Anyway, I commented on the quotes for quite awhile, and when that got boring, I decided to venture to the forum.

Someone linked to the mainpage from a Livejournal community (it was a quote about how this man would rather let his wife die from an ectopic pregnancy than "let her" have the abortion that would save her life) and I regularly read and commented on the mainpage for a couple of years before I got up the nerve to start posting on the forum--initially, like Mira, it was to participate in the PubAd.
And then I liked the community so much that I never left.

I admit to being a Yahoo Answers troll in the R & S section and someone posted a link to FSTDT.com about a year and half ago now and I now call this place home.

My ex annoyed the fuck out of me with the mainpage until one day I decided I wanted to get on the PubAd to change things. Found out I had to go to the forums first, went to make my requisite posts, and got hooked on the community.
The rest you know.

I think I saw some article on the internet pointing to the FSTDT top 100, and after a rather good read, I sort of got hooked. Eventually, seeing there was a forum to join in with, I hopped on and made myself at home.
The rest is history.

can't remember. It was about 3 years ago, and I think the main page was linked to something.... I'd like to say I could say something different, but I really have no clue. Other than my reaction of 'Holy shit, can people really be this stupid?' And now, I finally believe they can be... it's been remarkably depressing, I'm thinking of starting a more up beat alternative featuring intelligent and damning quotes by various secular forces out there.

I had borrowed my Dad's laptop to do something, and I noticed "Fundies say the darndest things" in the favourites, since it sounded fun, I took a quick look over and spent the next week laughing myself shitless. One day, feeling particularly bored and lonely I spotted the forum link, and splattered myself towards you poor, unsuspecting people.

It involved Fark, the rest is history. (Though I'd like to thank whichever Farker pointed me here.)

Someone had a link to here over at the Agony Booth forums, which I lurked at the times. Read the main page for a while, saw the forums link, lurked there for about 6 months. Posted a little, took like 7 months to get the 26 posts for pub admin, then spent lots of time in pub admin.
