...for frightened children, badly-made beards, and creepy-looking Santas! ;D Sketchy SantasThis one is officially my favorite. The kid's fine until he looks back, realizes he's on Santa's lap, then starts screaming.

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one as a kid who thought the mall Santas were creepy as hell. Though in that picture, I can't help but imagine that the sound of the kid screaming is just like screams the kids from A Christmas Story made after seeing that mall Santa.

I can't help but imagine that the sound of the kid screaming is just like screams the kids from A Christmas Story made after seeing that mall Santa. I thought the same thing before I saw your reply. I actually had a bad experience with a mall Santa when I was little, 3 or 4 maybe. Mom put me on his lap, and evidently he creeped me the fuck out. I went nuts, pissing myself and poor Santa, even though I was obviously toilet trained by that point--I guess I really had to pee and he literally scared the piss out of me. I actually don't remember this, but my parents and the older cousin who was also with us never let me live it down, and there is photographic evidence of my psychofit on Santa's lap (not the pee, though). In the pictures, he seems to look like a pretty normal mall Santa, not a particularly scary one. And I can't believe I actually shared that.

When I was younger, I always refused to go near Santa in the malls. Why the hell would I want to go and sit on the lap of this strange man? Doesn't that go against everything our parents have taught us at that age?

I dunno why, but I never had a problem with the mall pictures, be it Santa or the Easter Bunny...
