A lot of people really don't like this fellow I've noticed. I've even seen flyers for anti-Berlusconi rallys in Sydney of all places, as though a bunch of Australians are going to make any differance on Italian politics...

Wow.
That's, uh... well, not something you hear every day. Getting hit in the face with a cathedral.
All I can say is: ow.

It is hard to feel sorry for the closest thing to a dictator there is in Western Europe when he gets a tiny fraction of repayment.

Part of the dislike seems to be due to the media control the Berlusconi has. He owns quite a few channels and a couple news magazines, leaving folks to wonder about the accuracy of reporting under those agencies. Going after critics in the media he doesn't own, (The Economist), hasn't helped his image either. Conflicts of interest galore.

I still think the method of showing disapproval though wins this year's Most Epic Projectile award.

Damn, that's...not somethin ya hear every day, is it? Down right creative. I've been wondering recently whether I should bother reading the Mortal Engines Quartet, but if cathedrals can go around causing facial damage it sounds like the basic premise is kicking off already. The fact that it was only a replica is almost a disappointment.

Yes, the replica thing is a major disappointment. Much better if someone had dumped the real Duomo on top of the sleazoid.

Actually a bunch of Australians make a big difference in Italian politics. Australia has one of, if not the, largest population of Italian Ex-pats who are still registered to vote in Italy. Italian elections are in fact a big deal here. Quite a number of seats are one or lost depending on how the ex-pat votes go.
