I like how it's attempted as in they stopped it.
Ironbite-makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

Actually it could. Confined space + fire + pressurized cabin. Could. Highly doubtful, though. That's if what the guy had was a 'cherry bomb' style firecracker. It started a fire, we know that much.

I'm not saying it wasn't, this guy obviously had no real clue what he was doing.

I'm not saying it wasn't, this guy obviously had no real clue what he was doing. Either that, or he got set up; they could have told him that the explosives he was carrying were more potent than what they really were.

I suppose it's possible, but it seems a bit too conspiratorial. I mean what's the end goal in that case?

Chaos?
All you really need to do is raise hell every now and then and make the USA so paranoid and tired they lose their grip on reality.

Chaos? All you really need to do is raise hell every now and then and make the USA so paranoid and tired they lose their grip on reality. Pretty much. Remember the panic that happened when Adult Swim's PR firm placed a bunch of Lite-Brites around Boston? Totally harmless, but people went apeshit for a week after that one.

Remember the panic that happened when Adult Swim's PR firm placed a bunch of Lite-Brites around Boston? Totally harmless, but people went apeshit for a week after that one. I remember well. It was the day the Mooninites pwned Boston. And I couldn't stop laughing for a MONTH afterwards. Point is this: Hey America, lose the hysteria. It only makes us all look weak. Instead of blindfold fear, let's work out what the hell happened, namely how the hell that device got on the plane, and figure it out from there. Sure beats when we created things like the Patriot Act, Abu Ghraib, and the prisons in Guantanamo Bay out of fear. [sarcasm] That worked sooooo WELL! [/sarcasm] Fuck the hysterics. In fact, quote me on this: Damn the hysteria! FULL STEAM AHEAD!

I don't want to make light of some asshole who tried to kill a bunch of people, but I've been to Detroit. I bet a lot of people in imminent danger of finding themselves in Detroit have an urge to blow themselves up.
