So there was a guy at work who thought the Bible was the word of God and the only way to heaven was through Jesus.
We had talked several times about faith, my lack of faith, evolution, etc.
He came up to me the other night and we started a religious chat. He said something to the effect of "you're an evolutionists? You've heard of Richard Dawkins right?" This is were I expected the conversation to take a turn for the worse but instead he said he had started reading one of his books, Unweaving The Rainbow, I believe. And that he read some or all of the Bible like I challenged him and he couldn't believe how many times God had people killed and for no reason.
So while he still believes in Jesus, I have introduced doubt into another persons mind where only blind faith once stood, even if after it all he goes back to believing the Bible is the word of God at least he will do so of his own reasoning.

Good job you got someone to do one of the hardest things in the world, engage their brain!

Good one.
It's never a bad thing to make people see things in the light of reason, or get them to question their own views and make up their own opinions (you'd think that goes without saying, but unfortunately it doesn't seem like it's a very common M.O. among the fundies). Likewise, it's never a bad thing to do it yourself, of course. I don't think anyone can grow as a human person without constantly re-evaluating what we believe in, or why we do so. It really doesn't matter whether he goes back to his blind faith or not, at least he made an attempt to see things from another angle, which is more than can be said of 99,9% of all the other people who take the Bible literally. And even if he did choose to go back to his normal beliefs, he'll probably have a way better understanding of atheists, agnostics and all other heathen scum.

Good job. It's nice to see people exercising their gray matter. Three more and you get a toaster.

Good to hear of another person who is actually using their brain, and now he can inform himself and draw his own conclusions.
