Sometimes, when I'm seconds away from sleep, I can swear I hear someone yell "Hey!" I jump up in bed, but of course, the entire house is asleep and couldn't have been them.

Yay for hearing things!
Ironbite-this might be a more widespread problem then I thought.

I have an urky feeling that the Raptards who read this, are going to interpret it as the voice of God

When I was that age, I used to hear voices in the wind. I don't remember anything about them, because it was so long ago (except it was like being in a room full of invisible people all whispering), until the day my dad was calling me for something, and I thought he was just another of the voices. When I told him that he just sneered then belted me for not coming when he'd called, and I stopped listening to them

I hear voices occasionally. Usually someone calling my name, but when I ask them what they want they said they never said anything to me. It's been like that as long as I can remember. I've never paid it much attention.

I've never paid it much attention. Me too. I thought it was God when I was little and became confused when he never said anything else.

I've never paid it much attention. I hear noises occasionaly, and sometimes something as I'm going to sleep. nothing else, and it's not like the occasional word or two I get dozing off does anything disruptive or disturbing, so I always figured it was just a normal effect of the subconscious. Though I'm pretty sure Satan doesn't need to convince me to be a bad person. <.<

I guess it is interpretation, the brain tries to find recognizable patterns in unidentified sounds.

I hear shit all the time. Of course, there are times I can't tell when its just me, and its usually someone calling my name or saying a few words that barely make any sense. I never say anything back except the occasional "Eh?"

Weird! Does this refer to hearing all-out schizophrenia-esque voices around you, or is it more of an "I thought that sound was a bunch of whispering" thing?
The most I ever heard as a kid was my mom calling my name when she really wasn't. Of course, even now I accidentally interpret a random sound as my name.

Since the children in this study were only 7 or 8 years old, I suspect some of them answered "yes" about hearing "one or more voices that only you and no one else could hear", referring to an imaginary friend or something similar.
