Oh, this is a very interesting topic. I was just rambling about it the other day. I was calling Lucifer the fallen angel and Satan the general metaphor for sin and temptation... maybe I got it backwards. Also, I was thinking of how Beelzebub was also a separate character, perhaps some demon of temptation. Oh, yeah, the serpent. It never says anything about the serpent being Satan.

Beelzebub, Lucifer and Satan are all supposedly different beings... they were all just kinda lumped together for simplicity's sake XP.

There are several alleged names for Satan. Beelzebub, Asmodeus, Samael, and more. The funny thing about all of these demons is that you never see them mentioned by name in the Bible. So, no, there is no confirmed name for Satan, and anyone who tells you otherwise is just using pop culture osmosis.

I dunno... the kabbalah and the Goetia and the Clavicula Solomonis aren't exactly pop culture.

I thought Asmodeus was either a pagan demon or a product of the bible fanfiction that the church was producing by the ream at the time (probably both actually).

If you want to get a bit technical about it, Lucifer was originally a minor Roman deity, representing light and wisdom (funny how Christianity always seems to demonize knowledge, isn't it?). Often depicted as an extremely handsome figure with long, blonde hair, Lucifer was also the male counterpart to Venus. He was also known as the Dawn Bringer or Light Bringer, as Venus (the planet) is most visible in the night sky, just before sunrise. Christians, however, decided to call him a fallen angel, and depict him as the Sin of Pride, for having the arrogance to think himself better than God.
As Mira said, the serpent in Eden is never actually named Satan. In fact, he isn't even given a name if I recall correctly; the connection to Satan has simply been made for simplicity's sake. Satan became synonymous with the Sin of Wrath, and his name is often used in place of Lucifer, as stated above, though I believe the word "Satan" translates into "Rival" or "Accuser" in one of the languages the bible was written in (apologies for not having a source for this).

I thought Satan originally meant "Adversary". Like, all demons are Satan or Satanic, but only Lucifer is both, since his name is Lucifer and he is an adversary of God.
Eh, I could be wrong, it's been a while since I've read about the origins of Ol' Scratch.

According to Binsfields classification of demons written in 1589: Lucifer is Pride. Mammon is Greed. Asmodeus is Lust. Leviathan is Envy. Beezelbub is Gluttony. Amon is Wrath. Belphegor is Sloth. All these names I've seen referred to Satan in the past. But they indeed are not Satan. I think from what I have heard most demons are usually based on Gods that pagan religions believed in that were taking by Chrisitianity and demonized to turn people away from them. It is also a reason why Satan has had many forms that can be linked to something from different time periods. The reason why Satan has appeared in the form of a goat man was because he was demonized version of the Greek God Pan.

Isn't Beelzebub a version a Ba'al? Kind of ironic that most of the demons in Christianity were originally gods in previous mythologies. I'm guessing Lucifer and Samuel were as well.

Most names for the Devil are in fact stolen from other mythology. Hell, most of Christianity is stolen from other mythology. I could argue all, but I'm tired and not really up to the challenge.

Since there's no official canon writings regarding the demons and they're all fictional anyway, I don't think there's any "right" naming scheme.
