There are also verses where god rips open pregnant women in the bible. This one sounds outrageous. I do know of God killing an already born child, David and Bathsheba's lovechild, worse than abortion, and also shows that God is favoritistic. Wait...are you refering to the plagues in Egypt?

Another bit of dogma: bible mentions absolutely nothing about abortion, actually implies that a foetus is not a living human being. The abortion thing comes from (or is rationalised by) Jeremiah 1:5, which says "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." The argument goes that since God chose Jeremiah before he was born, then surely a foetus is a person. Of course, they ignore that God also said that he knew (or chose) Jeremiah before he was even in the womb, so basically God was speaking of destiny/foresight, not the value of life before birth. And they accuse us of quoting the Bible out of context. I recall a debate in which somebody, faced with the question of whether the soul enters the body with the first breath or at conception, declared that he went with the latter because it makes more sense from the point of view of modern science. I must have been off school when we covered souls in biology. Good thing the topic didn't come up in the exam, really. He did a remarkable vanishing act when it was pointed out that modern science also favours a figurative reading of Genesis 1.

Isn't there something in the OT that allows for parents to leave an unwanted child out in the weather to die? Oh, and couldn't one use the stoning of belligerent children as an excuse to have an abortion? "Stop kicking mommy!" *foetus kicks* "That's it, you're getting stoned!"

You could, but somehow I believe most people wouldn't like having stones thrown at their wombs.

Bonus points if you can rip the clitorious out through a well placed throw. That was unnecessary.
