I don't drink much these days but when I do it's usually cider, pear cider for preference, or Jack and coke. I like Kopparberg, but it's ridiculously sweet so I alternate with Bulmers. In my younger days it was Castle Eden ale, Wobbly Bob and tequila.

I completely agree with the choices of Newkey brown and a bit of old speckled ( newkey was always a close companion of mine at uni), but im also really partial to a lovely beer thats produced not far from where I live called whole hearted by oakleaf breweries, this beer is totally the dogs bollocks and if any of you can get to try it do so (i think it maybe available in tescos, but it may be only selected stores!!!) spitfire is always a good drop as is waggledance. for cider it has to be a leathal little drop called suicider. at 11% 2 pints and your legs fall clean off honest they do.... but you have to go to one of the beer festivals to get it, or to the I.O.W Garlic festival, where they give it to you in a clean milk carton but if im feeling a bit "special" it has to be a double Glenmorangie, straight, and preferably 20 years old +. For a whisky its hard to beat ange ohh yeah i forgot about Bulmers, thats a lovley cider too, so much better than Magners!!!!

Sake comes out top: for cider I'd choose kopparberg: beer, I'd go for Tsing Tao or Tokyo by Brewdog

I like Salty Dogs myself (voda and grapefruit juice w/ salt on the rim); if I'm having beer, I prefer Yuengling.

Well alright. I'm not known for turning down a Yuengling myself. Maybe in D.C. I'll pick up the first round

Sounds good to me. But no rounds of Salty Dogs or someone will have to put me back on the train.

I've been tearing through these: For being such a beast, it's really drinkable w/ a heavy citrus tone and a light clean aftertaste of pure alcohol. I have no idea what it is, but there's this sediment that floats around in it that settles to the bottom and makes the last couple of sips taste like a bittersweet shot. on the other end: A heavy, malty motherfucker of a beer somewhat balanced with a moderate dose of hops.

Sounds like the Sam is an unfiltered beer, so you're getting hops or yeast, or something used from the making of the beer.

Yep, that will most likely be the hoppy/yeasty sediment as the beer's been bottle conditioned, rather than left to do so in the barrel. Really you're supposed to leave that in the bottle and not drink it, but i end up drinking it because of that extra lil kick it gives.
Also spitfire is an awesome bitter, mind you, tis very difficult to go wrong with any beers from the Shepherd Neame brewery -spitfire, bishops finger, master brew, etc.

Having a Guinness Extra Stout right now, I understand it's like the macro of its variety but Smith's is having a St. Patty's sale, Guinness is $7 for a sixer. Which is about the same cost for all the pisswater.
Oh, did I ever mention Stone IPA and Sierra Nevada nut brown? Those two are pretty good.
ALso if you are ever in Albuquerque there's a delicious microbrewery called Chama River that makes this awesomely flavorful "sleepy dog". There's also their own take on Arrogant Bastards, which is delicious.
Also, forgot to mention Blue Moon. usually pretty cheap, pretty orangey, to some it's too orangey but I like it. Great example of a belgian white ale.
