This is something I've been wanting to do for three years now, but one thing or another drives it from my mind until the last minute. As it stands, it's a project that will now have to wait for ANOTHER year.
In my front yard I have three cherry trees (yes, they give me cherries). Each year, they start blossoming around the beginning of April and it lasts maybe a week or two. Right now, they're at their peak of blossoms. What I want to do is to take an empty snow globe, place a branch with a cluster of cherry blossoms on the base, and fill it with a clear preservative liquid or gel.
My problem, though, is what can I use to preserve a plant and that is also crystal clear? I have no idea and even after three years, I still have no clue. I just want something that will remain clear (a must) and won't allow the plant to wilt over time.
Is this even feasible or is this a doomed dream?

You get points for effort, but I'm looking to preserve them in a liquid or gel, not dry them. Thanks, though, that actually seems to be an interesting project.

*bookmarks* Thou art a gem. I'll see what I can see, but this pretty much describes the method I was gonna use to a T, my only problem being I didn't know exactly what kind of liquid to use. I'd considered modeling resin, but wasn't sure if it'd preserve the flowers.

So this one helps? modelling resin tends to have a yellowish tinge to it I've found.

Indeed it does. Mantorok also suggested much the same thing, only using clear glycerin in place of the resin. I might give both of them a shot and see how they turn out.

Now I just need to find a local place that sells empty snow globes. Just can't afford to wait for empty globes to get to me from the net.
