I completely stole your post, it's just a tad to amusing to pass up posting elsewhere.
But go figure, people willing to pay, for public services. I thought they all died out in the 80s.

I'm rather proud to say that my mother was among them.

Hey Tiger, I have an idiot on line one, is your mother on welfare by any chance? See, he happens to believe anyone asking for this can't possibly pay taxes.

Nope, she's a public school teacher. Whether or not the fact that she gets paid with tax money undermines your point is left for you to decide.

Fine by me, certainly explains her direct interest.

Unless her job was at risk she is still asking to pay more and take home less.

If it was/is, she hasn't told me anything about it.

You know, there's nothing stopping these people from simply sending more of their money to the state capital.

Well, no, there isn't. But it wouldn't have the desired result.

Springfield, Illinois saw 15,000 people show up at the capital to rally for a tax increase. Why? They want to pay more taxes to make sure schools and other government services are not cut. The crowd chanted at lawmakers "do you jobs" and "show some guts". That's like demanding that a 15 year old boy beat off to porn or spend 3 hours on his Xbox 360. It's also like demanding that a hungry fat kid eat that chocolate cake in front of him. The state legislature is more interested in cutting programs just so they can say they did not raise taxes. Illinois is not really known for low taxes.
