Does anyone know a good screen recording program that's free and works? I've tried a few in the past and they're always pretty buggy, or have a time limit on the free versions.

You mean like fraps? I think that one is limited, I'm just trying to clarify.

I've had some success with camstudio. It's not perfect, I get either extreme slowdown or bad compression, but that's probably more of a codec issue than anything else (and also that I'm on an almost 5-year-old laptop). I haven't really messed around with it all that much.

I use Debut www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html It is freeware and does everything I atleast need it for, there is a upgrade version that comes with like customer support and some other more advanced features, but I haven't found a reason yet since the free version is so good by itself.

When I cared about such things, I used Hypercam. The freeware version has a watermark, but I wasn't really doing anything professional with it.
