So I was listen to Rush today and he was doing a comparison of a Jimmy Carter address from 1979 regarding the oil shortage and President Obama's address last night. There where a lot of similarities. Rush pointed out how Carter had called for the nation to work towards energy Independence just as President Obama is today. Rush of course tried to spin this and say that the Progressive are using the same tired arguments.
"THAT IS BECAUSE WE DID NOT LISTEN TO CARTER 30 YEARS AGO YOU JACK ASS!" I screamed at the radio. If we would have listen and reduced our need for oil we might not have a huge oil spill in the gulf right now. Rush unwittingly showed that Jimmy Carter was right on the money. Thanks Rush!

Unfortunately, no one that actually listens to him and likes him will see it that way.

Same tired old arguments because they are still correct today and no one is listening today either - 30 yrs from now they can recycle this speach again.

Don't you see, Carter is the gold standard for failure applied against The Democratic Party. Therefore, it is Rush's responsibility to not waste any opportunity tying Obama (or any other Democrat elected president) to Carter. After all soon after he started his short-lived television show, Clinton got elected and he started his show announcing "America Held Hostage! - Day [##]". Yeah, he went there, of course I didn't know what he was referencing at the time.
Just a few years ago, my mother was complaining to dad, about how her aunt and uncle had much to complain over Bush Jr., and my dad's response was "He's not Carter."
Democrats are hopeful that we might just get past the Reagan Era, and in order to seal the deal, Obama must be reelected to a second term. Failure is something the Republicans are very dependent upon, to paraphrase another Limbaugh quote.
In the minds of the Right-Wingers, Bush Jr. can't be a total failure, because Karl Rove got their demagogic ducks in a row and squeaked through with their fifty percent plus one to win a second term.
