Not that I'm shocked, but still... what the fuck is wrong with these people?
If female preachers are in the same category as clergy sexually abusing children, why don't we see people coming forward to talk about the years of PTSD and depression they suffered due to having a female priest in their church?
God damn Vatican bullshit.

Ah, it seems they're in a bit of a tight spot here. Should they refuse to change with the times and admit fault anywhere, they risk alienating what (admittedly very few) remaining sane followers they have. If, on the other hand, they go the other way, then obviously the whole "mouthpiece of an infallible all-knowing deity" goes right out the window. I must say watching their support base steadily eroding is a truly wonderful thing.

The Vatican now considers the ordination of women in the same category of crime as kiddy fiddling. Does that mean they're basically okay with it, have high-ranking members of the clergy who have participated in or abetted it, and really nobody should bring it up again?

Wow just wow...they are dumb aren't they?
Ironbite-and this is why you don't have men who haven't so much as seen a woman making rules for women.

This is why I don't get how my family (consisting of several young children) can call themselves Catholic without second thought....

This is why I don't get how my family (consisting of several young children) can call themselves Catholic without second thought.... Probably because they believe in Catholic traditions and beliefs, but think the Pope is an out-of-touch old dude who doesn't really get a large proportion of his followers. At least, thats what every Catholic I know (including myself) seems to think.

Some scorching remarks on Irish TV last evening on this matter. It is seen as an attempt to divert attention from the child-molestation debate.
