Some teabaggers in Iowa want to change the law so that we can elect judges. This comes after the fact that the state's supreme court overturned a DOMA law and made gay marriage legal.
They also want to overturn the 17th amendment, which allows us to elect senators as well as house representatives. Doing so won't shrink the size of government; it will just give them less say in it.
There's a fine line between democracy and mob stupidity!

Gah, stop trying to fuck with the judicial system. It's like that for a reason, you assholes.
Also, do you have a link?

Yes because we totally need judges to act like one sided, agenda toting, blowhards, spending gods-know-how-much on fallacy laden commercials/signs/campaign managers and kissing babies instead of deciding the letter of the law with impartiality.
Actually majority of our states already do that don't they? Although, very few have partisan elections for members of the supreme courts.
Oh and would anyone be surprised if I said Texas was on the partisan list?

Mob rule?
Nay. Gang rule. Militia. Warlords.
People. If the US ever descends into chaos, and I restore order by outgunning every other son-of-bitch, then you may call me Emperor Norton II.

I think I'd rather call you Bob.
In any case...
*takes a fork and stabs it into his brain*
This is like an expert massage compared to reading about teabaggers anymore.

Can we call you Emperor Norton Antivirus? And then the twist ending will be that you aren't a very good piece of software and there are superior, cheaper options available?

Elect which judges, I thought most local judges were.
If they mean supreme court they should read that beloved Constitution of theirs and realize democracies have constitutions for the same reason most monarchies do, people are fucking morons and need to be told they can't fuck the country just to get their way.

The Constitution to them is like the Bible to fundies. If they disagree with part of it, then it's unconstitutional and needs to be either ignored or changed. If they do agree with it, or rather their interpretation of it, however, it must be followed to the letter.

funny how tea baggers say they want freedom.. but everything they support would lead to less freedom.
Especially how they want to have elections for judges. I can't help but remember that where Massey Energy is, they do elect judges and Massey poured tonnes of money to get friendly judges. Lo and behold, it became a lot harder to get rulings against it in some courts. Then some of their mines cave in though I am sure that's just a coincidence.
What's that phrase.. useful idiot?

So, they want to be able to elect one branch while disenfranchising themselves of another?
I don't think I really need a punchline.

people are fucking morons and need to be told they can't fuck the country just to get their way. I hope you never plan to use that as a campaign slogan.
