That's because the left doesn't represent communism, but an interest in government intervention in the economy, welfare programs, and a pro-labor stance. It might still be inaccurate, but just because you have a high economic left score doesn't mean you're a communist; just an economic liberal.

I never cease to find it funny that in the US an economic liberal is in favour of government intervention in the economy.

Yeah, our definitions get a little fucked up.
Libertarian, for example, is pretty much synonymous with Objectivist here.

Economic Left/Right: -0.38 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.85
Socially, I'm against drugs and smoking, but I don't care what people do to themselves or with others, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. If it does (like public smoking), I'm very against it. I also support capital punishment.
Economically, I'm one of the only people here who support Fair Tax, though I don't think that's reflected in the quiz. I'm for helping people, but I think you have to put your foot down enventually and say, "Get your @$$ to work or @%^#@^% starve!
Thr first test was stupid. The one question about women doing men's jobs made no sense. You either believe women and men are equal but women should have help if they're not, or you believe they're not equal but should have the same work environment. How about, I believe men and women can do the same jobs, and if they can't it's their own damn fault, not their genders, and they should not receive and 'special help' to compensate for being the 'weaker sex' as it pertains to said job?
Did the first test even list personal results because all I saw were overall for everyone who took it?

THIS. Same jobs, same fucking pay, and if you, personally, are not suited to a particular job, find another one. Gender should have fuck all to do with it.

It might still be inaccurate, but just because you have a high economic left score doesn't mean you're a communist; just an economic liberal. I don't think so, because the test purports to be a relatively objective, internationally-applicable thing, hence the way they keep placing world leaders and political parties on various pages. My other piece of evidence is the way the left compass point on the analysis page is repeatedly labelled "communism". As a politics graduate, I wince at the way Americans define anything; it's not just "liberal" used in 'wrong' contexts, but also the way "conservative" is used as if it represents a genuine and coherent ideology rather than a vague descriptor generally meaning "traditionalist" or "opposing drastic reform".
