Why would she want everyone to have names that sound the same? That would be awfully boring.

I know plenty of Asian people, and many of them have names that are very easy to pronounce.

I have an asian friend with a name about a dozen letters long. I look at that thing with pure horror. I haven't even attempted to pronounce it. But, you know what, I have never thought that he should change it. Because it's his name dammit!

Nothing wrong with being Lithuanian, Lazy One; Luthuanians are white, and should be welcomed in any white nation - United States included. We're not a "white" nation. My name isn't exactly "American" either. Would you like me to change it? America shouldn't force people to change their names. Maybe you should stop being so damn ignorant and lazy and learn to pronounce someone else's name. America is a multi-cultured country. A mixture of races and cultures is what makes it America. If you don't like it, you leave. No one is forcing you to stay here.

I agree that orientals should adopt American names, though. It should just be a minimum expectation for someone who expects to immigrate to this country and be part of American society. If they want to retain their oriental culture, then they should stay in China or Japan. No one is forcing them to immigrate to the United States. Fuckwit, there wouldn't be a United States if people hadn't migrated there.

Only in Texas.
The nigots were prolly having a hard time telling them and the latinos apart (no offence intended) since both of their skin colors aren't 'pure'
Kinda like that Moral Orel episode where he's comparing bandages on his white friends to a bandage on a darker colored kid
Oh, I see theamericancowboy chimed in with his bigotry, nice. missed the buss to the rally today? or still trying to get those stains out of your white robe? Our nation should welcome everyone regardless of race, gender, religion or anything else. That's part of what makes America great (when it's not being run by inept morons). all the multicultural lineages mixing together and forming a society that for the most part can get along and advance itsself

I dunno about theamericancowboy's stance on the Theory of Evolution but,
Am I the only one who's starting to see a pattern in the Southern US between their doubts of Theory of Evolution and their favor towards Eugenic policies in society?

www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6365320.htmlThis is a bit of a sore topic for people in my family, even though I'm about as white as you can get. When both branches of my family immigrated, they all took different names against their will. People in my family had very Lithuanian surnames. They all changed their surnames to things that would be more "acceptable" for Americans at the urging of the immigration officials. If it hadn't been for that, I would have my original name instead of the Americanized version. On behalf of sane Americans everywhere, I apologize to the Asian-American community. Nothing wrong with being Lithuanian, Lazy One; Luthuanians are white, and should be welcomed in any white nation - United States included. I agree that orientals should adopt American names, though. Should they have to stay in China or Japan, too?

Actually it reminds me of the logic of the Ku Klux Klan: If evolution never happened, then human beings were created in their present form by God. If this is the case, then we can say He created black people and white people separately, and we can say the races are inherently unequal and the whites are God's chosen people.

And it's the thinking like this that left my family's name on ellis island. Since they couldn't pronounce it, we got a nice generic american one. I'm not sure I can express quite how much this point of view annoys me, but mostly because it cost my family already, and frankly, we're white. In fact, if you believe my fiance I'm so white I glow in the dark.

I have a Polish last name that contains more z's than vowels. I think that's kind of awesome. Also, what's so hard about Asian names, especially Japanese ones? Japanese is frikkin' phonetic, so it's technically easier to pronounce than English. My Polish last name has a P, K, W, Z and a total of 12 letters. Imagine playing wheel of fortune with that! I still haven't found someone (that isn't polish) who could pronounce it properly on the first try.
