Sorry if this was posted elsewhere, I haven't seen it posted anywhere. www.cbc.ca/world/story/2010/10/12/chile-mine-rescue.htmlThis is such awesome news. I've been following this story, hoping for a good outcome but somewhat pessimistic about it... reading that they're all safe is such a refreshing piece of good news.

It's amazing that all of them are out and safe.

Yeah me and my mom saw this tonight live on CNN. It really reminds me of the Jessica McClure incident in 1987.

I watched as the 33rd miner was pulled to safety. He's the one who, when the miners were unsure whether they would survive, established rules and rationed food. I believe they had two days worth of food and he made it last seventeen days.

I'm amazed and relieved that all 33 men are alive, safe, and (relatively) healthy. My shrivelled little cynic's heart is oddly quiet--these men beat all the odds, as did the government and rescue workers who worked tirelessly for months to make sure they got out alive. And that is, to borrow a quote from 'Inherit the Wind', "More of a miracle than all of your sticks turned to snakes or the parting of waters."
Part of me wonders how many of them are thanking the PEOPLE who rescued them, rather than their god.

This just shows what people can accomplish when they work together without an reservations. A lot of people from different countries came together and the Chilean government freely excepted help offered. Really a great story.

They were also fighting over who would be the first one to go up:
Which none of them wanted to be.

It's a rarity, but every so often something good happens.
