Uganda tabloid Rolling Stone published the names, pictures and photos of 100 (presumed and confirmed) gay and lesbians in the country. And if there's any doubt as to why this list is published, the yellow marquee with the words "HANG THEM" should dispel any doubt. gawker.com/5667825/ugandan-tabloid-publishes-list-of-100-top-homos-calls-for-their-hangingedition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/africa/10/20/uganda.gay.list/?hpt=T2The LGBT community gets no support from the government, of course, considering they're in the process of banning all homosexuals. Government officials have openly expressed indifference. You have to be glad that no matter how many hate crimes occur, how much discrimination, at least very few places have descended to the level of "witch hunt" as Uganda has.

This is just disgusting... whilst I'm glad I'm not living in a corner of the world which would gleefully have me killed just for being 'different', I'm still not glad that people are having to live through this.
This is why we can't have nice things...

Great they are ripping of the more legit Rolling Stone magazine.
Oh and if any small community tries to do that, I hope the gay residents are willing to defenestrate their neighbors.

Hopefully a few civilized nations will offer these folks asylum and most of 'em will take advantage of it.

We need to send a message to Uganda that this is unacceptable. A Tomahawk missile to their parliament should do the trick. And if we get them while they're in session, we'll completely frak up their government, setting back their plans to make homosexuality a capital crime by at least a year.

And then proceed to piss off the rest of the world for good reason. America's strong. Not "At war with every other nation in the world" strong. Not to mention we don't really have the right to bully other countries' politics. Yes, I am aware America has done this. And it seems like it's always done more harm than good. That said, this is abhorrent. I second the asylum idea, that seems like the best option.

^^This said, some sort of concerted international action against a pointedly discriminatory system would be nice.

^^This said, some sort of concerted international action against a pointedly discriminatory system would be nice. I can't see it having much impact. Pretty much all of Africa is still a little mistrustful of the rich countries. Seems they've yet to forgive us for colonialism.

Christian missionaries from the US already did. They said good job and keep it up.

Uganda has a horrible history. Human rights have always been trampled upon in that country. It's been a war-torn mess for decades.
I have read some things that suggest that the whole gay witch hunt has been orchestrated by US fundies. It may not have been entirely orchestrated (it may have been for all I know) but the Family Fuckers for some shit or another have publicly supported Ugandan efforts to commit crimes against humanity.
