...yup, they sure do, 'cause dey don't want no BIG GUBMENT tellin' SMALL BISNESS wut to do. thinkprogress.org/2010/10/07/missouri-plumber-ballot-puppies/You can't make this stuff up. Really. This almost reads like satire to me. Would they use the same argument to support corporate-sponsored murder? Also from the article: And I like how the MCA tries to frame this as a bad thing. humane treatment of animals O NOES

There are people willing to vote against clean water and food for puppies?? Seriously?? Do they want to vote against mom and apple pie as well?

But you see, if we just give puppies clean food and water then they will become lazy and dependent on them rather then working to get these these things for themselves.

Wow, I didn't think the teabaggers could sink to a new low. It goes to show that the almighty dollar comes before any form of compassion.

Alright, I know the Tea Party, as an entity, is insane. But how the fuck can anyone with a soul (and they're the godly side that believes in the damned things) argue AGAINST giving animals the bare minimum of things they need for a healthy life? They're actively fighting to support animal cruelty.

Treating animals in a humane way = gubment control and LESS PROFITS
A drive through the boonies here is pretty eye opening. Just look for the spray painted sign for "pure bred ___" in front of the junked up trailer with several broken down shacks in the backyard. If you're brave enough, get out of the car and inhale deeply. Suck in the smell of shit and filth.

They're actively fighting to support animal cruelty. It's the extreme capitalist idea that any regulation forced by the government will be Bad, and any Good regulation will appear due to the magical invisible hand.

Try to remain understanding. We must always bear in mind that Tea Partyers are morons.

It's nice to know that teabaggers hate puppies, I sure hope none of them own any dogs, if they do, I feel really sorry for the dogs.

I've heard commercials and interviews by opponents of this on the local radio station. They use a slippery slope argument, claiming that this opens the door to more gubmint regulation in other industries and WHERE DOES IT END!? Most of the people I've heard arguing against it are ag-industry types convinced that it could eventually influence them.

For this one issue they should reduce the voting age to four.
Kids, they want to make a law that says you're not allowed to hurt cute little puppies. Do you think they should not be allowed to hurt the puppies?

So... these are bad things, then?
I love how they're so naive and/or stupid that they think the profit-driven assholes who run puppy-mills would just voluntarily say, "well, we need to be kinder and not milk our dogs out of every last profitable cent like we're starving calves sucking milk from an udder, until said dogs inevitably perish."
Actually, regulations wouldn't just put a clamp-down on puppy-mill owners, they would help... consumers. Yeah, if you don't want to think about the animals this would help, think about the people who will be buying them. Which would likely include some of the tea-partiers.
(Though, honestly, I would never knowingly buy a dog from a mill, simply because that's encouraging it to go on as a business.)
