Hear ye, here, ye! This is the thread where we talk about how much we love the Devil's music (especially that of his face-paint-smeared sons, the Black Metallers).
I personally, am more of a black metal/symphonic metal/folk metal person; my boyfriend Darth Toxic is more of an industrial metal sort of guy... but he likes black metal, too.
My favorite bands: Agalloch, Dimmu Borgir, Children of Bodom, Cradle of Filth, Emperor, Equilibrium, Finntroll, Manegarm, Menhir, Moonsorrow, Mortiis, (though now he's more of a weird folk/ambient/industrial/dance/Goth/thing) Opera IX, Svartsot, Type O Negative. Listening to Finntroll got me into folk metal, which got me into black metal, and on and on it goes.
I also like progressive metal and even hair and glam metal, too. I started out listening to '80's hair metal and always enjoyed that.
So, what metal music do you like? Post!

Hail, fellow metalhead! I've got fairly diverse tastes in metal. I enjoy some 80's glam metal, or at least Guns n' Roses, glam metal revivalists (Buckcherry et al), old school thrash (Metallica, Slayer...), modern thrash (Lamb of God, though I've heard them called death metal), and if Nine Inch Nails are considered metal, throw them in the "industrial" category too.

Listening to Finntroll got me into folk metal, which got me into black metal, and on and on it goes. I got into Folk-Metal through Storm and - unexpectedly - my high school history teacher.

and if Nine Inch Nails are considered metal, throw them in the "industrial" category too. I've never understood that exact point at which any form of rock music becomes metal, to be honest. I'm not sure if NIN is quite heavy enough, yet at the same time whenever I go into a record store I usually find Blink-182 in the "Metal" section, which is ludicrously, obviously wrong.

Where does System of a Down fall? I love them and I was sad when they disbanded.

I like at least a little bit of stuff from every genre of music. My favorite metal-related groups:
Cradle of Filth Danzig Darkthrone Dethklok Evanescence Fear Factory GWAR Marilyn Manson* Megadeth Meshuggah Metallica Ministry Mr. Bungle Nine Inch Nails** Opeth Ozzy Osbourne Pantera Pig Primus Rage Against the Machine Rammstein Rob Zombie Sunn O))) Tool Type O Negative White Zombie
*(it's debated where he falls, and some of his stuff is old-fashioned hard rock, but just listen to something off Antichrist Superstar or The Golden Age of Grotesque and tell me that ain't industrial metal)
**(again, as said earlier in the thread, some of his stuff isn't heavy enough to be classified as metal - but some of it most definitely is, so I'm just gonna throw him on here as industrial metal)

Hey, if you like King Kobra, you might like what Mark Free did for the Heavy Metal horror film "Black Roses", which is a camp classic of the '80's. In the film there's this demonic heavy metal band that possesses the teenagers in this little town. Mark Free does the vocals for the band. Pretty good stuff.
