Wait... this whole thread... it's about how you will be banned from Free Republic if you support gay rights and/or abortion (why do they come up together? that's not the same issue)... and about the fact that Free Republic is defending freedom?
Trying to make sense out of it feels like... I don't know, I rarely get to do things that absurd.

And gays/abortion go hand in hand, not because of a direct correlation, but because they're two of the big hot buttons among wackjobs

With the FReepers reacting this dramatically, I'm almost scared to go check out what Moonbattery has to say about the matter. I might accidentally punch a hole through my monitor.

Is it really a "free" republic if dissenting views are silenced?

^^ It's kinda like how oppressed countries always have words like "Democratic", "Free", "People's" etc. in their name.

Maybe they're hoping it can go back to pre-Clinton era where they military could outright ask if you're homosexual and kick you out for it. It's the same thing, fucktards!

Is it really a "free" republic if dissenting views are silenced? Why do I have the feeling that this is a veiled attempt at saying that FSTDT and Free Republic are not so different?

Is it really a "free" republic if dissenting views are silenced? We don't silence dissenting views. That's cowardly. Instead we challenge them to a gladiatorial internet debate, where we rip each other to shreds until one remains.

I don't see any reason to believe that it is... Do we really have to twist around every single one of AA's posts, even when he makes a reasonable comment?

Do we really have to twist around every single one of AA's posts, even when he makes a reasonable comment? That's why I was asking. I was about to say that it was a good point, but then I wondered if it wasn't, so I phrased it as a question, because it was.
