I don't care for the apricot after taste of that. But to each their own. It tasted like apricots to you? I don't really have a lot of other beer to compare it too, and it wasn't Bud Light.

Oh yeah. It has a sweet apricot after taste. The foretaste/main taste/whatever is of a pale ale.
Tonight I'm drinking Little Creatures' Pale Ale. An Australian American style Pale Ale, easily one of the best pale ales I've had. It's not super hoppy and a bit more malty than the average APA, so excellent for a session beer. Now I wish I could find more of it.

Oh yes. Beer. I fucking love beer. My favorites: Guinness Draught Stone Arrogant Bastard IPAs. Any of them, but the Brooklyn Brewery one is fucking excellent. On that note, most of Brooklyn brewery's stuff. I've gone to their brewery, they serve beer on tap and you can order takeout. Amazing. Spaten Optimator. Doppelbock for the win. Sam Adams everything except Cherry Wheat. Saranac everything. Toured their brewery too. Ommegang Belgian White. Maudite. There's a few more, but those are my favorites. Yay! ^_^ Another Arrogant Bastard lover. High five!

Where do you even get AB? I hear about it a lot, but I'm not sure where to find it. Is it a local brew or something?

It's not too hard to find. I've been in resturants that have it on tap, and of course, looking in liquor stores.

Sleeman's makes several terrific brews, my favourites are: Sleeman's Draught - not only tastes like a quality draught out of the bottle, but the has a wonderful smooth head. Sleeman's IPA - incredible ale.
Most of the "corporate beers" suck donkey dick.
My home town boasts Walkerville Brewery, which produces a terrific IPA and several good "dark" beers. Great stuff.

I really like the draught version of Newcastle Brown Ale, but I'm not a huge fan of the bottled stuff. You can get it on draught? You learn something new everyday.... The bottled stuff's good if you pour it into a schooner glass and keep topping it up to preserve the head. Even more so if it isn't chilled. Emperor alone knows why they say it's best cold as that removes this wonderful, creamy texture that it has at room temp.

I work in a brewery so that kind of spoiled me as far as beers go. We do mainly heavier German styles. I am partial to Marzens and Dunkles. Being able to chat with the brewer over a few rounds during his "quality control" goes a long ways towards enjoyment.

It's drinkable but not a first choice for me. Usually it's something I drink if I don't trust the bar to keep their lines clean and/or they have only foul shit on draught.

Just found out that a local bar/resturant by me has Arrogant Bastard Ale on draught. That makes me a happy camper.

Couldn't find a thread for this if there already is one. Basically self explanatory. What types of beers do you like? What are some of your favorite brands? Etc. I'm majorly a self admitted beer snob. I love dark, hoppy beers, especially ales. If it's strong and bitter then I probably like it, though I do like some smoother beers. Most of my favorite imports come from places like Ireland and Germany Some of my favorite brands: Guinness Arrogant Bastard / Stone Sam Adams Newcastle Moose Drool Pete's Wicked You surely has to try Duvel, Chimay Blue, and on a hot summer day, Orval, if you can find one of these. But make sure not to drink one of these if you still have to drive. As for jane, who loves kriek bier:

I love me some crafted beer, but I also am a poor-ass student. So here's my list of beers by occasion. Bud - when I'm homesick because it's what my Dad drinks Bud Light - when my mom buys me too cases of it because she thinks all girls like it Olson - when I want a decent but also cheap beer Sleeman's - when I'm going somewhere I want to not drink a cheap beer but still not spend too much Stella - when I have money and am celebrating Propeller - when I have money and/or I need cheering up. This is a local brew to Halifax and it is the Guinness of Canada. It is delicious IPA/porter/bitter and you must drink it

Harpoon apparently makes a hard cider which I tried today. It was wicked good, but you couldn't really taste the alcohol.

I'm not much of a beer snob, and I'll pretty much drink any beer that comes my way, but my favorites are Guinness, Newcastle, and VB.
On the other end of the scale, my dad once got a 6 pack of the worst beer ever. It was on sale for obvious reasons. There is often good beer (obscure brands) on sale at the store, but he got unlucky with that purchase. It wasn't that it was skunk, and there wasn't really any defining thing that made it awful, but it just was. It was a dutch beer in a funny-shaped bottle that was kind of sweet, tasteless, but it somehow triggered a revulsion that you can't convey in words. He couldn't finish his bottle. I couldn't finish mine. My sister always raids the fridge, so he left one in there as a trap. She took it and immediately knew she was set up. The neighbor across the street who loves all beer, and literally has no sense of smell, still couldn't drink it. I forget what happened to the fifth one, but the sixth one still sits in the neighbor's garage after he offered to take it to prank a neighbor. The neighbor found out the beer was horrible through the rest of our stories, so he refused it. This was probably 8 or 9 years ago.
