www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-12615353Aside from the exorbitant price (probably due to the limited supply) what do you people think? Would you try it or not? What would your reasoning be? Edit: I now see that my original intent for the discussion was not completely clear. The idea is that the sample you would try is deemed safe via established procedures (in the future).

Breast milk on it's own doesn't taste that bad, so I don't see what would be wrong with the ice cream.

All milk is basically breast milk.

I really don't have a good reason why cow milk is somehow more acceptable than human milk.

Why not, as long as the donor is healthy and all that stuff It wouldn't even be the weirdest thing I've tasted, after all.

I'm going to be a conformist here and go with yes. I'd probably taste bloody strange, but trainwreck syndrome dictates that I would have to try it, should the oppertunity present itself.

If we can't trust breasts, what can we trust?

THey had a thing about this on one of the local radio stations and they had people coming up with names of breast milk ice cream flavors.
People were coming up with everything from "Moo Tracks" (Moose Tracks) to "Vanilla Fudge Nipple" (Vanilla Fudge Ripple).

I lost at Vanilla Fudge Nipple.
Well... to be honest, as much as I'm squicked out, I don't know why I'm squicked out when I love cow's milk, sooooooooo.... yeah. I'm going with one of the yes's.

I would try only if I knew that there was nothing that could be transmitted to me via it.

I'm going to be the one person who stands out from the crowd and says no, because human milk wouldn't go through the same testing procedures that cow milk goes through to make sure it's suitable for consumption. I wouldn't want to catch any diseases that could be transmitted.

I'm fine with the overall idea of it, but I'm not sure I'd buy it from a restaurant at this point when there really isn't any established procedure for screening for diseases and whatnot. Whip up some safety regulations, however, and I'd be willing to try it out. It's ultimately still just milk.
I can understand why food safety agencies might be hesitant to approve the sale of food made from human milk, though. The risk of disease transmission is much, much higher between humans, versus bovine-to-human.
