The second difference to Japan is that the victims of New Orleans were wholly incapable of ending their suffering, like the Bangladeshis. Do you mean to say that there isn't any poverty in Japan? Not a city or town that would require aid like New Orleans did? If you're taking the position of first world countries not needing the same charity as the third world, I can see where you're coming from. I can comprehend your position. But if you give a super power a pass that you won't give Japan, that is remarkably inconsistent.

And the numerologists are having a field day with the nuclear plant explosion, because apparently 9/11/01 + 12/03/11 = 21/12/12 In what universe does 11+3=12?

But if you give a super power a pass that you won't give Japan, that is remarkably inconsistent. There need not be any poverty in Japan. Japan may choose to end it all at a moment's notice, but do not. I think foreign aid should be focused on things that countries cannot do, not things they will not do. In a Japanese context, very-high level nuclear scientists and sufficient amounts of emergency rescue workers are basically the two commodities they are unable to provide. Everything else, Japan can reasonably provide. If they choose not to, other nations should not divert funds from nations that cannot provide those things simply to placate a stingy Japanese government. The difference between New Orleans and Japan is that one is a country- with a federal government- and that one is a city, with a state government. When the US federal government failed to give any aid, that limited the number of federal government-only services to zero. If the US government failed to aid the Japanese victims of this tragedy, the amount of federal government aid would be non-zero. Furthermore, as I pointed out, the sovereign nature of the Westphalian state system gives special, extra responsibility to the government of a nation toward helping its own population.

Breakdown in communication on my part, I was fed flawed information. That's not to say the numerology wasn't happening though, I found some first-hand examples on Twitter but their notation was 09/11/01 + 03/10/11 = 12/21/12. Even though it was 0546 on March 11 locally in Sendai when the quake happened.

Funny, I don't recall Fred decrying international aid being sent to Australia. Or is Brisbane better than Japan?

He was born in Japan in the early hours of the 20th July, but now lives in the UK where his birthday is technically the 19th. As I was born in the late evening (coincidentally on the 19th July, but some years earlier) I'd be in the opposite situation if I ever found myself living anywhere two or more hours east of home.

If it isn't the jackasses that are saying it's karma for Pearl Harbor, it's the freaky tree-huggers that are running around like chickens with their heads cut off over the nuclear power plant situation... alot of the liberal sites are really starting to get annoying with the whole doom & gloom bs. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for protecting the environment and everything, but there hasn't been a meltdown YET...stop acting like its already happened...take one step at a time...DUDE!
